It's acting pretty funny though. Random reboots and freezing. Speakerphone was the only way I could talk, as the earpiece stopped working. I got the earpiece volume back, but now on speakerphone, I can hear them, they can't hear me. And sometimes it doesn't want to charge.

The charging thing could be the pins in the charging port, although that usually makes it look like its always charging, even when unplugged. If it is the pins, you can bend them back with a toothpick or something.

I actually have something like it already, though. Remember bag phones from way back in the day? Well I got two of the most advanced bag phones ever made just before you couldn't get them anymore, over a decade ago, to be permanently installed in company vehicles. I kept the bags and 2800 mAh 12v batteries (should be aboot 6000 mAh pushing USB's 5v). The bag makes a nice case for carrying a bunch of portable electronics and the battery can charge them all.

I've checked and deleted cache on several apps. Gallery, chrome, and others. Even checked the com.sec.android.gallery3d trick. Said it was close 4gb but that didn't free up space.

I do a lot of email on my phone for work.

Also found ton of cache in Drive. Yet I use it alot as well.

Yeah, all streaming technologies cache locally, though if you're not allowed to rewind/skip or random access then it ought to only cache one or two songs at a time.

For Drive, consider using another app instead of Google's. There are plenty of multi-cloud-storage apps, but I like ES File Explorer:

Also, what app are you guys using to track down battery usage? Android's OEM Battery Usage in the About Phone settings menu has no idea, it just says 50% Cell Standby and 50% Phone Idle. Had this problem and did a wipe, installed ROM, was better for a day, then I installed a few apps and the problem is back. I might try seeing a list of apps sorted by install date, if I can find such a thing.

Twitter only allows 3rd party twitter apps to have a certain amount of users. Once the app has that many users no one else can use it and it can cause problems. Luckily once you sign in and get a token you are usually fine even if they hit the max.

twitter profile = name, location, and an "about me" blurb. fill it out however you want, whatever name you want, etc. Then people follow you and you follow people. No finding people by name, school, etc and no long winded annoying posts. Everything has to be short and sweet.

Never dropped. Always on something soft, even place it on papers on my desk to keep scratches away. I do remove the case once a week to clean the phone and the case.

Could be from the stress of on/off. Both look as if they are still brand new at nearly 10 months old. The cracks are ever so slight.

WTF. On all my flash drives/SD cards/etc I put an autorun.inf that loads a nice icon so when I'm in Windows I can easily tell which of a dozen "removable devices" is which. Android auto-deletes autorun.inf. Dickdroid.

my phone keeps dropping signal and not getting it back. happened yesterday at work and this morning (or last night, idk how long it was out) at home. If I try to enable airplane mode it just sits there confused trying to go into that mode but it never does. Only way I can get a signal again is to reboot it.

And it actually will have bars showing, 3-4 usually, but no data/texts/calls will go through.

Ok check it out. I have a Samsung Stratosphere SCH-1405 with a dead, cracked screen. It was in the local lost&found unclaimed for so long that they wanted it gone. I like its form factor...barely any larger than my Venture, full-sized screen, slider with a hardware full QWERTY that is easy to type on.

The screen alone is more expensive than I'm willing to spend on a whole phone or tablet.

First of all, I didn't know you could use VZW phones on Virgin. Interesting.

My wife had a Strat and it was a nice phone at the time, she liked it until she broke the screen/digitizer lol. I have it sitting here in a drawer.

As for the water damage fucking up the screen, I can tell you that my MIL just dropped her Droid 2 in some coffee and now the screen doesn't work even though you can hear it boot up, it vibrates/rings, etc. So moisture can definitely fuck up the screen, unless it just fucked up the mobo in the area where the screen connects. :chin:

$10 LG Optimus Slider. That'll give me a full screen and a QWERTY in a vMo phone that will work with my grandfathered $25 plan. Specs are still pretty lame (not quite as bad as the Venture but I've learned to handle the lack of memory like a boss and there are actual extended batteries available for this model.

That's TMo's regular behavior, JUMP doesn't make any changes to anything besides the $10/mo, insurance, and upgrade availability. It isn't a plan, its something you add to your plan.

The S4 has a removable battery, an SD slot, and a few more sensors (IR blaster). The One has a unified metal construction that is pretty legit.

One has Sense on top, one has TouchWiz on top.

Both have recent versions of Android, 1080p screens, nice processors/ram/cameras/etc and plenty of dev support if you care about that.

When you go play with them in a store, play with the camera app, contacts, music, look through the settings, etc. because TouchWiz and Sense change a lot of that shit.
