That update helped. I have to install it again since I had to flash back to root, but one thing it did that pissed me off is take away the wireless hotspot... unless you call and subscribe to it. Thats main reason I rooted.

I used it when I needed the battery life, but that was before the battery problems were fixed in CM. I hate Sense so I didnt spend much time on it.

well, the damn phone started installing the HTC update, went off, and is now stuck at the HTC boot screen and won't do shit. I've tried resetting to factory, recovery, etc...
if i pull the battery, it'll boot up like normal, stay on for maybe 15 seconds, then shut back down like its installing that damn update and then just freze on that white HTC screen..

I was reading last night and everyone said that the firmware it was shipped with was more stable than the updates were. I might leave it as is for now, unless I flash a ROM.

But..theres abother problemo there. I tried booting into recovery from ROM Manager last night just to see if it would work. And it just sits at the HTC screen and does nothing. Pull battery, let it boot and all is normal. I can get into the HBOOT screen by doing the volume buttons, but it won't boot to recovery or anything like that.

Weird, go into rom manager settings and clear download cache, then go into settings and check erase recovery, then try flashing it again.

I know you go in and out of shitty signal areas but DAMN that is bad if you get that with 3G off. If CM7 is that bad on the fascinate then I would use a different rom.

I'm currently at 67%, 5h17m. That includes:

Screen on for 53m
About 4m of calls
Plenty of texting
Tapatalking
Browsing
Uploading to Photobucket
Checking and replying to emails

and i think i installed an update from the amazon appstore.

usually it's like 50ish percent display, and 25% or so cell standby on the battery. the display kills it FAST if i ever use the phone a good bit. battery has been calibrated, etc.

supposedly the display is being undervolted from 3V to 2.6V when the new kernel is released, so that should help some.

right now i don't OC the phone at all since it gets so damn hot as it is with the standard clock settings. I just UV -50 across the board to help a little with the battery. by hot i mean 100-105 degrees batt. temp just browsing fb, tapatalk, etc for a few minutes

Going back to Liberty v2.0.1, I cant deal with shitty battery life. The battery life has a lot to do with shitty signal more than likely anything. We went to lunch today, and made texts/market went crazy on updates got all the way down to like 25% before I made it home today.

Leave it on auto. We have those damn super efficient flourescent lights with reflectors, so even on on manual setting I have it at 40% to be able to read text on the screen.

Everything appears to be running fresh and normal now on v2.0.1

Yep. I ended up finding one of my backups that was a Liberty v2.0.1 file and its running so far.

From my personal use, it seems the battery life on CM7 for DX was pretty bad (7-8 hours). Is that true for most of the gB roms, depending on phone/usage/etc, of course?

Anyone know if there is a tweak for Liberated on Liberty v2.0.1 for numbers in the battery, like percentages?

So all you guys know I'm still running an OEM system on my Fascinate. I went to check for updates the other day and the only apps that are showing up in my market are Youtube. I have tried a phone restart and tried to clear my Market Cache and there was nothing there to clear. Anyone have any other suggestions?

but yeah, clearing data on the market is fine, it makes it start over fresh and recheck what apps you have, i've had to do it before. When you first start market after doing that, it will ask you to agree to the market terms again.

What is a good application/battery tweak that will replace the current Liberty status bar battery with a percentage icon?


This is on Liberty v2.0.1 running a Liberated theme.

You'd have to find a theme that replaces the battery images with images that have the % overlay on top. Because Liberty v2 isn't based on CM7 is it? If thats the case, you'll only get 10% increments also.

On CM7 you get 1% increments and can enable % via settings.

You'd have to find a theme that replaces the battery images with images that have the % overlay on top. Because Liberty v2 isn't based on CM7 is it? If thats the case, you'll only get 10% increments also.

On CM7 you get 1% increments and can enable % via settings.



damn that blows. i have decent battery life with v2.0.1 and don't want to go anywhere, so far 60% now since being on since 0520. about the same usage as with CM7 barely lasting until a similar time. does gB and gB roms take that much battery?

i have only met a few other folks, if that, who know what rooting/roms/overclocking are. i normally have do the rooting is like administrator rights on a windows computer. thats one of the best ways to compare the idea of rooting, or at least to me.

one guy was a emergency management guy who only rooted to remove bloat, but no rom. others have gone all out. even Pat (AftermatH) on GMF$, i had to explain what rooting/roms were in comparison to jail breaking. he used to go to murray state, so every once in awhile he came down to visit some college friends.

Yeah I am using LauncherPro right now LOL. I may go back and try the stock one again at some point though. The settings don't bother me.

I love how sexy everything is. The messenger looks great, has pop ups, emojii, and is themeable, who needs gosms/handcent with that? The theme manager is bamf. I have the sense 3.0 lockscreen with like 5 clicks. I love the online theme databases.

I don't see myself leaving this rom... I haven't noticed any bugs besides Torch not working and a few Alps not showing up in the market (TweetDeck). Weird thing is even if you find the apk, it wont install. They are working on it though. Some kind of fix due out today.

I was using GO SMS just for the time being since i had all my SMS/MMS in it per being used in Liberty. I had to backup my SMS/MMS in it, so I could create a backup and import into the stock messaging.

Problems with MIUI so far:

occasionally drops calls
individuals on the other line can hear your touchtones when SMS/MMS during phone calls

I have been toying with it all day and now I understand why there is such a following for MIUI.

The ability to change fonts, lockscreens, etc damn its so nice. Seems like it has decent battery life...will give it a full day test tomorrow.

Do the DX2 and DX have similar operations in terms of boot loaders, so the possibility of MIUI/CM7/etc working on DX2? Do not remember if DX2 is 4G LTE device, as you have said that prevents a lot of success for roms on those devices...:shrug:

DX2 isn't LTE. I think they recently got 2nd Init running on it but there aren't many users/devs using the phone so there isn't much going on with it. I wouldn't get one, it isn't much difference than our X. Just dual core and a pentile.

I think it all depends on who made the lockscreen. Most of the ones I've seen only show calls and texts. I don't know if the designers don't care about emails or if calls/txt are just easier to do. :shrug:

About battery life... this is what I got today:

My phone has been on for 13 hours. These 13 hours include me being home, traveling to work, indoors, outdoors, and traveling back home.. so I hopped towers a few times I imagine.

Display on for 2h17m. 10 mins of voice calls, lots of browser, some twitter/tapatalk, downloaded/applied a few themes and rebooted after each, sent a couple emails, plenty of texts, installed a couple apps, took a few pictures, played music for roughly an hour in total.

It half-ass charged in the car for about 30 mins at one point. I say half ass because USB power takes forever to charge and at the time the screen was at like 80% brightness and was playing music so I doubt it got much juice into the battery. You can see it go up a little on the graph.

It is now at 29%. Regular battery, no extended or aftermarket stuff.

Not bad if you ask me. Here are some screenshots:

Underneath the GUI linux is almost the same on every distro. If you got the latest version of Ubuntu (11.xx I think?) then you probably got the Unity GUI which is completely different than previous GUIs. I'd recommend using 10.xx to get the more OG version of Gnome GUI. Also, if you plan on running linux on one of your machines that you use often, Linux Mint is Ubuntu with drivers, codecs, etc bundled into it to make life easier.
