Yeah, it's been full bars of LTE at home, work, and families houses. It dropped to 3G in an elevator on the bottom floor of one building but idgaf, I'm happy with it so far.

I got the plan with 2.5G of high speed. Idkwtf happened but Firefox used 1.7gb within a couple hours and I wasn't even using it wtf. So I uninstalled that shit and went to Chrome.

It used to be easy to bypass Knox from what I read but they either updated it with 4.4 or updated it on the newer phones (Note3) or something to make it harder.

On 4.3 I could have rooted without tripping Knox but it would have just been root. No recovery or ROMs. Once you flash a recovery or a full ROM, it trips Knox. On my phone anyway...

All it is is a counter on the bootloader that changes from "Knox Warranty Void 0x0" to "Knox Warranty Void 0x1", it doesn't change anything about how the phone acts.

Moto has the same type message on the stock recovery but I read a lot of peoples tripped after the KitKat update fiasco. I dont think they even check them anymore.

after i finally got my kitkat update on my maxx working i couldnt install or uninstall certain apps without the phone soft rebooting. I tried factory reset and it didnt work. had to re-flash the phone and it started working. could be a different issue than you have but i thought id let you know.

Try this:

Go to System Settings > General Tab > Accounts > Google > remove his Gmail account

Then go to Settings > General Tab > Application Manager > All Tab > Force stop, Clear data/cache, and Uninstall updates for Google Play Store, Google Services Framework and Download Manager.

Now go back to Accounts and add your gmail account back.

Reboot the phone and open the play store. Accept the terms or whatever and try to install an update/app.

My coworker had an old ass iPhone 3G and was tired of it so he got a Droid X (when the X was still new). The DX got sluggish pretty quick, never got past Gingerbread, ended up crashing and shit all the time, and made him think Android was crap. So now he has an iP4S. I keep telling him I wish he'd waited to try Android until now. You could pick up any of the nicer Sammy/HTC/Motorola/LG/Nexus phones right now and you'd probably enjoy it. Some are better than others but all of the flagships are good phones and fast.

The TeamViewer QuickSupport app lets you remotely manage Android phones. You can transfer files, chat with the person who has the phone, add wifi ssids, see installed apps/processes, cpu/ram usage, system logs, etc. Just tried it out on my phone and it's pretty damned nice.

This will be installed on my dad's new Note3 ASAP since he keeps asking questions.

The person with the phone shouldn't care either because they need to approve the remote session a few ways. 1) they have to give the remote person the random ID number that the app generates. 2) they need to approve when the person tries to connect. 3) they need to approve the remote control request.

Well otterbox type cases should* protect the body and camera area pretty well. The tempered glass screen protectors usually* do a good job protecting the screen from death.

Edge is a waste of your money IMO. Your monthly bill technically already includes some money to pay for your hardware (even if VZW doesn't show it) and then you'll be paying more monthly on top of that. The only cool thing is that you can upgrade often.

Unified build? Sounds like you probably flashed something for a different model of phone.

Flashing an ATT Note3 ROM on my TMo version will result in phone, wifi, bt, and nfc issues. There are very few phones that have interchangeable ROMs. Almost none.

Holy hell this X-Note ROM is bloated. It has some nice features but its also loaded with every xposed module the dev kinda likes, various apps that are available in the market, multiple apps/settings that do the same thing so idk where I should make the change, etc. :jester:

Also, the installer (Aroma) let's you choose what "bloat" to install but it doesn't give you all the options. It installs font apks, trip advisor, etc.

I should have known when the ROM zip was 1.8gb :roflmao:

Flashed a ported version of the stock S5 rom. It's kinda pretty :jester: but no s-pen apps. The pen still works fine but no note taking apps, no handwriting keyboard, no handy pop-up when I pull out le pen. :emo:

Will play with this for a little while and probably flash a Note rom tonight that has the S5 theme on top of it. :chin:

Isn't there a module or mod to change the color of the status bar in per app occasions? Say Play Music, it's top bar is orange. When entering the app the status bar instead of black turns orange.

yep, there's an xPosed module called Tinted Status Bar that does it

Works great when your homescreen needs black text/icons and lockscreen needs it white, etc.

You can also use it to remove the gradient under the statusbar.

Co-worker gave it to me for free because it is a pain in the ass. It's a Gateway all-in-one with a touch screen. It's decent when it runs but the GPU overheats every now and then and it won't display anything until you heat the GPU up enough to reflow the solder.

I may add some thermal paste to it and cut a hole in the back and add a fan. It's worth a try. It runs Android x86 pretty well (wifi, camera, brightness, audio, etc all worked on first boot). I just need to make a few adjustments. Like it won't wake up after it goes to sleep for some reason LOL so that's a major issue. Other than that, the only problem I can find is that the touch keyboard won't pop up for some reason, i need to connect a USB keyboard instead.

So T-Mo's uncarrier announcements (for anyone who cares) were:

1. The test drive program (called 7 Night Stand). Cheat on your carrier by having a 7 Night Stand with TMo. You go to their website starting Monday, give them a credit card to verify who you are and probably have something to charge should you run off with their phone. They don't charge you any fees or deposits or anything, they just send you an iPhone 5S with TMo service to test for 7 days. After 7 days, you bring it into your nearest TMo store and tell them if you want to sign up or not. Sounds win. Even existing customers can do it if they just want to try out an iPhone lol

2. Music Freedom. Pandora, iHeartRadio, iTunes Radio, Rhapsody, Spotify, Slacker, and Milk Music no longer count against your data limit. You can go to their website and vote for more apps that you'd like added to the list. For people who already have the unlimited high speed plan, they can use the new TMo unRadio app that has no ads, unlimited skips, choose what song you play, etc. The unRadio app is $4/mo for non-unlimited peeps if interested.

I've been happy with them. The only annoyance I had was the first bill being small and prorated and then another one shortly after with the phone cost on it and more prorated and then my discount from work went through, which changed my billing cycle which resulted in more weird bills. Once all that shit levelled out, it's been great. Their phone support was great when I called to ask questions, the dude in the retail store was cool, and I've had no trouble with my service yet.

Well I live in the middle of town and rarely leave the city. The only time I've had bad service was when we went to a family friends house out in the middle of nowhere in a small town an hour or two from here. I actually managed to grab a bar of service off and on which I honestly didn't expect.

I think Legere said they are beefing up their existing network before increasing their footprint because they'd rather have a high quality network than a wide spread weak one. Something along those lines. According to coworkers with TMo, it has been getting better and better over the last few years.

You can use the test drive program once a year so FIDIL try it every now and then lol

Apparently Apple is supplying the iPhones for free, which is why you can only test with an iPhone. At the Q&A thing at the end, they said that TMo users don't favor the iPhone as much as the other carriers so Apple wanted to try and get their phones in more people hands. Google/Sammy/LG/someone should step up and give some free phones too. :cheeky:

And this is using a ROM that has a bunch of random shit added to it (halo, active display, theming stuff, etc, etc, etc) so it's a bit bloated as far as AOSP goes but it runs great. S-Pen works fine, it just doesn't have the fancy apps to go with it (SNote, screenwrite, the pen pop-up, handwriting keyboard, etc).

Every time you touch the screen, the minimum processor speed jumps up to 1200mhz. I've set the minimum to 300mhz but it doesn't always stick and it NEVER sticks after a reboot. Dfw to get the battery life issue sorted out.

Right now I'm at 65% after 7.5hr of uptime and 2hr of screen-on. My GNex would probably be dead by now rofl but still, AOSP is definitely nomin' the 3200mAh more than TW did.

If you are up to it try a kernel. Should see a large improvement in battery life and be able to stick the governor and clock speeds.

I already tried LeanKernel yesterday and the speeds still won't stick (using the Performance menu in the rom's settings). The governor seems to be sticking. Might try Temasek's kernel later today.

I'm thinking I should try Trickster or SetCPU or something. Maybe by using an app to change the settings, it will stick since the app probably won't make the change until the phone is done booting, if that makes sense... worth a try either way.

I'll try WLD to make sure no apps are causing trouble and maybe even Greenify.

My battery is by no means horrible, it could just be better compared to TW.

Another thing to check is in advanced WiFi settings turn off the constant scanning. It was eating up my batt on my maxx and nexus 7
