You don't have to. Nightlies are just incremental updates that come out with the most recent code additions, even if the code is a little buggy or not fully tested.

That doesn't mean you need to install all of them. I personally like to have the latest additions so I'll update every few nightlies or so but if you are happy with what you have, there is no need to update.

The RC is supposed to be a good solid build for users that don't want to risk using the most up to date code.

Yep, nightlies and RCs are the same rom, just the nightlies are newer. Usually you dont even have to wipe as long as you're on a previous version of CM7. Just download whatever nightly you wanna try, flash it, flash gapps, enjoy.

Haven't used TWLauncher before Perot there should be. Try long pressing and dragging them off. Or long press an apps and drag it down there. Or maybe hit menu and edit or something?

SD card issues are solved AFAIK. A kernel change aimed at GSM phones was what caused the mass destruction on CDMA phones for whatever reason.

Autobrightness is the biggest issue. For me anyway, not sure how big a deal it is for you.

You may run into problems (random crap) if you go directly to that from a froyo-based rom though. Seems like gps issues abound when people do that. Mine works flawlessly since I was already on the full EC09 gingerbread leak, which seems to play nicer with the AOSP stuff.

Basically:

ODIN the full EC09 with the SD card out of the phone
Let phone boot up once
Put into download mode, odin the CWM4 recovery
Insert SD card (with the AOSP rom loaded onto it, plus GAPPS)
Put battery back in and immediately boot into recovery via vol +/-/power
Wipe everything, then install the rom.

That's worked great for me and I haven't had any gps or telephony issues, plus you'll have the 2.3 bootloader and radio to go along with the new rom.

Just a reminder though incase you forgot, once you're on one of these MTD roms you can only access recovery via the reboot/recovery command from android. You can't get into it by pressing the 3 buttons. And if you decide to go back to a froyo rom, you'll need to reflash/repartition with ODIN.

Pretty much like most other ROMs but the custom carrier text is centered under the notification widgets and to clear a notification you just tap the carrier text instead of it having a separate button.

quick question on CM7. under messaging settings there's a menu called "custom user-agent". on there you can select iphone 3.0, bb 8800, nokia n95, etc. what exactly does that do? ive tried some but it doesnt change the appearance of texts at all. i need to download something?

Just got off phone Me and lady had a NICE convo.
Told her it won't do shit. All it does it sit at HTC screen now. Nothing else.

She offered me a LG Revolution replacement, OR..any 3G phone, but said one I downgrade to 3g I can't go back to a 4g phone.

She is sending me a brand new thunderbolt, and told me to try it, and if I was unhappy, call immediately and they would send anything I wanted.

Sweet. It sucks that you can't get a charge but since you can't really take advantage of 4G then FTS anyway. The 3g phones are nicer because they aren't as massive, have better battery life, are more stable, etc.

Not sure about the Revolution. I'd look into it before you grab a 3G one, just in case it's a decent phone :shrug:

Well I can honestly say that besides the locked bootloader, my X has been great. Stable, fast, great reception, etc. Plus now there is haxx so you can run CM7, MIUI, OMFGB, etc so the bootloader issue is ALMOST gone. I've heard good things about the DX2 and D3 as far as stability, battery, etc go also. They are faster than the DX but have the pentile screens (higher res, lower quality). Oh and as of last week or so, all of the above are rootable.

I'm not sure about the other phones. Mike just got an Inc2 so he can probably help you out there.

Revolution isnt a bad phone, has old hardware and is an LG, 2 major downfalls. Also development isnt really there. If you can deal with Moto then try out the D3, if not then go for the Inc 2. Or milk it for another week and see if they will give you a Bionic.

The newest dev to join the team is working on the g2x version. You should try it when its ready :imo it is simple like CM7 pero has some cool features and seems to run better than cm7 (on my X anyway). The dev working on it is @romanbb if you want to follow him.

Well MIUI is full of extras. Everything is prettyfied, a few added apps, completely different homescreen mechanics (unless you install launcherpro, adw, etc), etc.

I'd say you should at least try it at some point just to know what MIUI is. People tend to hate it (Chriz) or love it (Everyone else).

rofl i dunno. I don't have a Desire so I can't vouch for either. Most likely the Oxy will have less bugs but I recommend you also try MIUI at least once. It is a different beast than most roms.

The AOSP camera was pretty equal to the stock one on le Fascinate, but you had to make sure to have auto-focus enabled. Otherwise it was hit or miss.

well the stock blur camera has panorama and shit built in and it isn't slow and shitty or anything, it's actually a nicely made app. Same for the camcorder. You can do slo-mo video, high speed video, 720p, etc.

That is the only part of blur I miss. I don't use the FM radio or HDMI which also don't work on AOSP/MIUI.
