what?!?!?!?! Once bionic battery life tests get released or that samsung stealth comes out, I am gonna have to do some serious thinking. I would get the Thunderbolt, but that 2-4 hours battery life is definitely not going to work.

What is the "best" android based phone on spring right now? Evo 4G? Do not really have to worry about rooting, as it would be for my dad. I am thinking he wants to go back to a physical keyboard. Trying to convince him that he might as well get over not having a physical keyboard similar to his current phone.

AFAIK:

If he needs a keyboard, look into the Samsung Epic or HTC Evo Shift 4G.

If he doesn't need one, look into the Evo or they are supposed to get a nice Moto soon.

Thats about it I think for the high end phones. If he DGAF then there are a few others that are lower spec'd but FTS.

Lol........people were COMPLAINING that the FCC was moving to protect consumers from tiered/censored internet. Gotta love how easily people can be manipulated by corporations with vested interests.

Everyone was screaming that the FCC was getting involved in regulating the internet, when in fact they were moving proactively to SAVE the internet as we know it from corporations petitioning to have tiered access. A court ruling effectively threw out the "neutrality" law that had been on the books since the dawn of the internet on a technicality, major telecoms jumped at the chance to impose tiered pricing and controls, but luckily the FCC stopped them. Government doing some good for once I guess.

Unfortunately in order to get enough republican votes to pass it, they let wireless broadband providers off the hook so they're free to charge whatever they want for data access and control the content of said access. Won't be too much longer before you won't be able to log onto att.com from a verizon phone. :nono:

Like they said, you don't need task killers. Main ways to save battery are to keep the screen dim when possible, keep gps/wifi off when not in use.

As for browsers, some of the main/popular ones are Opera Mini, Skyfire, Firefox, Dolphin HD, xScope, and Dolphin Mini. They all have their pluses and minuses and slightly different ways of handling bookmarks/tabs/etc.

Every one I tried I didn't like something about and ended up back on the stock browser but then I tried Dolphin Mini and I've been using it for quite a long time. It handles tabs well, allows easy switching between Desktop/Android mode, supports flash but doesn't load any flash content until you tell it to (tap the icon on a page w/ flash), etc. It also seems to run faster than the others I've tried. It doesn't load content faster but the app itself seems like it is quicker.

You have 2 points on opposite sides of the screen. Fgts are trying to get from A to B. You place little towers between A and B to try and stop them. Most games have a few types of towers: guns, rockets, "slowing" towers, and some get more specific where certain towers can hit flying fgts and certain ones hit ground fgts.

The fgts can't go THROUGH towers so you can set them up in a way so they have to go all the way around your towers, gives you moar time to kill them.

It's confusing. I think I just found a one stop shop thread for everything I need though. Still debating on pulling the trigger, or waiting for the de-bloated official release WHENEVER it decides to get pushed out by Verizon.

Not sure I want to go through all the trouble for a leak, even though it's been tweaked so much by now it's not really anything close to what the official will be anyway. And they've gotten it down to a 1 click method with Odin now, so it's not really that much trouble.

if not, use Titanium to backup your apps and app data

then if shit hits the fan, you can completely wipe your phone and then restore your apps/data with Titanium. Then the only thing you'd "lose" is your system settings (wallpaper, ringtones, etc) which is nothing.

Considering that the official release for VZW isn't even out yet, but Gingerbread for the Telus version of the Fascinate has been rumored "about to leak", I'm quite happy with this hacked up leak of FroYo.

Not so happy with Samsung, and REALLY getting pissed at VZW, as they're most likely the ones keeping official 2.2 from dropping for the Fascinate. Probably due to something they want to bloat up the phone with not working properly with it. It's officially out for other carrier's versions.

Also, another thing I've read is that the developer teams were split up between the different models of the Galaxy S line, and didn't really communicate. Now, it's one developer team for all Galaxy S models, so they might just skip FroYo and drop Gingerbread as the next official update. :roflshrug:

Whatever.... Between XDA and AC, there are some hardcore Sammy fans, hackers, and developers. It's quite the badass peice of equipment when properly tweaked. :happy:

Its called "Make Your Clock Widget". You pick the size and then setup the time, date, etc however you want. Pick font, colors, sizes, shadows, put images behind it, spell words out, etc. The 4x2 on my homescreen and 3x1 on my lockscreen are both made with the app.

I think I'll switch over to another GB rom today at lunch. I've been using the same version compiled by 1 developer, but there are actually 3 working on it for the eris. Should be pretty much the same thing since it's all basically CM7 RC2. Getting bored with it :rofl2:

Oh and since you mention it, it's not just me having problems. Getting 3G per se isn't an issue, since I've never been anywhere and NOT had 3G where I had radio coverage in general. At night there has been ongoing maintenance on the towers nearby, hence why the signal drops from full to null several times an hour. It's not a lack of coverage issue, just a maintenance issue.

basically CM7. It runs WAY faster for some reason! And isn't as picky to which kernel you use. I have it at 1100 right now, running like silk.

I really want to see the battery life of the Thunderbolt and go from there...I really want AT LEAST a 4"+ screen...but the biggest downfall of that is the battery consumption of the screen. What would be really nice if the SII came to VZW, I would use my upgrade for that.

The Samsung Stealth is cool and all, but that pointy bottom panel irks me...don't think I could get over it.

I have a gmail account, and then my other two main accounts are college accounts but use a google based server...so the address is [email protected] and [email protected] but they use the same servers/domains/etc when setting up accounts as the gmail accounts. I had trouble with the emails and notifications to come up being the one they were supposed to come up with it. Sort of pissed me off.
