rofl I have to have mine in almost the exact same order all the time. Messaging/Phone have to be on the left, Maps/Browser have to be on the right, the 2 emails on the bottom, and then the top 2 are Music/Market. I've only had the phone for a few months but I'm already set in my ways for those icons. The ONLY time that changes is when I have a home replacement that includes a call/web button. (Home++)

its actually quite slippery....maybe a bit too much. Doesnt attract any lint and stuff, but it can slide out of your hand...thats the only thing I didnt like. The description said

IDK about better grip, but it sure as hell doesnt attract any lint...I like it and would recommend it. I bought a case for my Pre and it was bitch trying to get it on. This guy just snaps in place real easy and ur on your way...easy to take off too.

The dock is a beast too...comes with a wall charger only, they dont give you the wall->usb adapter which I was kinda hoping they would. Its a solid peice, not flimsy, holds the phone nice and toit and you can use it with or w/o the case...w/ or w/o the extendend battery too.

not really...I usually have it at lowest volume or on silent, never really use vibrate but when I do, I can hear/feel it.

It is a little soft but I've never had a problem with it. Especially in the office, even when the AC is blasting, I can hear it vibrate. I have to set it on something soft or it is loud as shit sitting on my desk LOL

^^^ that update won't do anything for me and eddie but yaybo and rogers will be able to install it whenever it gets to them. It will probably add the multitouch browser, 3d gallery, some other little things here and there. It MIGHT add the 2.1 launcher and animated wallpapers but no one is sure yet.

anywhere. If you install "Zedge" or "Backgrounds" or something from the market, they are free and let you browse wallpapers. You can also just go to google images in your browser, search for something, save it, and put it as a wallpaper.

It has an SMS widget that shows your txts. I tried using it the other day and got the same problem. I couldn't find a way to stop it. So I uninstalled it. There might be options but I never used those widgets so I FIDIL and deleted it.

rofl yeah that is a problem with the 2.1 dock screen they stole from the nexus. For some reason on the Droid it only shows C. The old dock screen showed the right temp pero wasn't nearly as nice as this one. The old one didn't get as dark, didn't have the all black w/ green time mode, and was a little more fugly.

si pues apparently if someone can hack the few seconds as the phone starts (when moto logo is on) they can enable this without any fancy hardware. If someone hacks that, you just get a usb>micro adapter and plug shit in and it will work. Until then, hardware is required to trick it.

Well loading ROMs always opens you up to some random bugs here and there. I've had more force closes and whatnot with Sholes than stock but not enough to be annoying and the overclock/theme is worth it to me.

You could load Bugless Beast on his. Supposedly a little less buggeh

- Download http://androidoverdrive.com/pete/Version0.7.5/update.zip to his sdcard.
- Power off phone.
- Boot phone while holding X.
- Use volume keys to go to "backup/restore" and press the camera key.
- Go to "Advanced Nandroid backup".
- Go to "Set backup name", type a name you'll remember, press Enter key.
- Put a * next to every section (BOOT, CACHE, DATA, MISC, RECOVERY, SYSTEM).
- Click "Perform Backup".
- After a few mins it will go back to the menu. Press the power button twice to get back to the main screen.
- Go to "install"
- Go to "Allow update.zip Installation" (it will look like nothing happens)
- Go to "Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)"

It will then install and when its done you can reboot (just like after you installed Sholes).

Now if it loads and he doesn't like it or something, you just go back to backup/restore and Advanced Nandroid Restore and choose the backup that you just made.

That is whats cool about these Nandroid backups. You make one, then you can do whatever you want and if you don't like it, just load an old backup :D

I just installed a different boot animation (instead of red eye) and an AudioEqualizer that lets you set different EQs. Boot animation was easy but I don't really like it, gonna try a different one. EQ was kind of a PITA but works fairly well when I tested it just now.

Oh, no. I'm running 2.0.2 and I think you're running the same unless 2.0.3 was out by the time you did it. Go to Settings > About phone and Build Number is all the way at the bottom. If anything on the change list sounds nice to you or you just want to do it then go for it, I don't think it will hurt anything. Plus if you do a Nandroid backup like I explained a little while ago, you can go back to your old setup with like 0 effort :pepper:

As for what ROM to run, I've tried Bugless Beast and SholesMod and both are great. Me and Eddie are using SholesMod right now. There are other ROMs based on 2.1 also. They tend to be a touch more buggy but some of them have some nice features, like the Live Wallpapers I posted earlier.

How To: Root/Recover/Flash your motherfucking Droid (The easy way)

1) ACQUIRE & INSTALL SMUPDATER:

There are two ways to do this. You can pay $5 in the market and always have the latest version on your phone and support development of the ROM or you can get it for free from the Sholes Team website. I'm cheap/poor so I chose the latter.

To get it from the market, search for "smupdater" and you should get "SholesMod Updater" as a result. Pay for it and install it and then go to the next step.

If you want to do it the free way, go to Sholes.info (http://www.sholes.info) and look through the recent posts for the latest version of SMUpdater. At the time of this writing, the latest was Version 8 (http://downloads.sholes.info/smupdater-8.apk). The easiest way to get it onto your phone is to visit the link from your phones browser. Once it has finished downloading, tap it and you should be given the option to install it. Now go to the next step.

2) RUN DAT SHIT:

Now find "SholesMod Updater" in your app list and run it.

This is where it gets weird because I don't remember exactly what the app shows you or tells you. If I run it, it is different because I'm already rooted/recovered.

Essentially the program will walk you through the following steps:

- Root (will require restarting while holding X and applying an update.zip)
- Recovery (should be flashed by the app, you shouldn't have to do anything)
- Flash (it will let you pick a ROM version and then it will restart)



That's pretty much it, the app makes it really easy.

Wiping /data will make it like a fresh install. No apps, no contacts, etc. Your contacts will sync back to it but you'll have to redownload apps and change settings again. It won't touch your sdcard though.

So what exactly is it doing again? The screen just shuts off randomly?

No, the screen functions normally. Ok you know there are 3 home screens. THe middle/default, right and left ones.

For some reason when I hit the home button it takes me to the right side home screen which is empty. it put all of my Icons on the default/middle one but always takes me to the blank empty right side home screen

That's actually normal because the new Home has 5 screens which they added to the end so now 1 2 3 have become 1 2 3 4 5 so now the home button takes you to 3 since it is now the center screen. Just move everything from 2 to 3 and you'll be fine.

BTW you can drag from screen to screen, you don't need to delete/readd everything. Just drag to the edge of the screen and hold it there for a second and it will switch to the next screen.

The wrapped one is 2.1 but if you decide to use it, be warned, it can be screwy at times, especially in landscape mode. 2.1 is pretty, 2.0.1 is stable. Reflash the ROM and this time check out the options a little more. If you see (MT) next to something, it has multitouch so thats probably the one you'd want (Pinch Zoom). Also, if you want you can install both launchers (2.1 and 2.0.1) and then try them both out and when you decide which you like best, set it as default and you'll never notice that the other one is installed.

Actually you might need to turn it off, maybe it is midjudging the lightning where you are. Mine is off with the brightness in the middle.
