I'm not exactly sure how to find it on my phone, but here's what it's called. It looks like its an add on for the $10/month data plan I had for le T phone. So $40 total for unlimited. I have the cheapest call plan as well.

MikeB, do you use google wallet and reinstall it every time you flash a rom? I read somewhere that reinstalling it could make it not recognize the secure element or something and then you'd be fucked. I want to try it but for that reason kinda dont lol.


I have it installed and just reinstall from ti backup everytime. I havent had any issues yet but I also dont use it alot. Last time I tried it at McD's it didnt work for some reason. I just noticed today that it doesnt show up in my market apps anymore. I had originally installed it from the work around in the winter and it showed up as an installed app and would update like normal. I guess vzw fixed that :/

You don't have to change anything. 3G unlimited will automatically become 4G when you activate an LTE phone.

Looks pretty good, but just so you know, the DX will only push things out of HDMI when you are using an app that supports it, like the gallery. It doesn't mirror your phone's screen to the TV like the newer phones do.

I just didn't want another GNex, wasn't worth the money to me. I wanted to find a GSII since it's nice and cheaper but couldn't find one. Talked to this guy and he said he can send me Meizu for $400 after all PP fees and bullshit with express shipping. Figured I might as well try it and told him ok, and of course now a GSII pops up for a decent price :fp:

Cam, I made sure not to plug my phone into the cig lighter or usb at all today. I didn't use my phone heavily today but I did use it:

- Phone off charger from 5:30am til 11:04pm (17h 32m 49s) and has 9% left.
- 2-2.5h of music playing.
- 2h 46m screen time (mostly 100% brightness).
- 5-10m of calls.
- Tapatalk, Twitter, Instagram, took a few pictures, uploaded some to instagram, installed a couple apps, updated a few apps, downloaded an mp3, plenty of texts and some pic msgs.
- Mostly wifi at home/work, 3G when out of wifi range. I don't use 4G very often (not at all today).
- Using the extended battery.

Hope that helps give you an idea of GNex battery life.

The thread on rw was deleted. I'd like to hope it doesn't, but this might well rip the Android modding community in half. The compatibility issues are one thing, but its really becoming nasty on a personal level. I have no doubt CM did what they did in an attempt to barricade the doors and control more of the open source arena. They pulled EXACTLY the same stunt on the Galaxy S phones first by closed sourcing hardware libs until JT went rogue, and secondly by taking (legally) supercurio's hardware sound mods and implementing them in a way that breaks compatibility with his app. Legal issues are one thing, but ethical issues are another matter altogether.

Well, I've sort of figured out what's up with Verizon prepaid. I've been using a plan for 3+ years that isn't available anymore, and I can't even change to a plan that Verizon offers now. I can keep this plan as long as it stays active.

I've looked at Straight Talk but they're a tier 3 carrier, so even if I use an ATT sim I wouldn't even be getting all of the crappy coverage they already have. So, point being I'll probably be switching to ATT prepaid once I have the cash to pick up a decent GSM phone. I can't keep paying $100 per month to Verizon. ATT has a $25 plan with an extra $25 for 1GB of data. I don't know if I can double the data purchase if I need extra, but I could manage I think. Nothing but EDGE in this area so we'll see how it goes. The T-Mobile $30/5GB plan is great but there's no coverage within an 80 mile radius of me.

Straight Talk doesn't roam. I think you can buy an AT&T device and use their main service though instead of prepaid. That's what my sisters husband is doing, but not sure if they just let him because my sister already had an account or what.

I'm not getting another contract. What I meant by tiers is that Straight Talk doesn't allow access to the full network like you'd get with ATT prepaid. It sucks, but oh well.

I'm not saying you have to sign a contract. I'm saying that you can buy a device like you would with prepaid but start a regular line of service contract free. ST doesn't roam, at all. They use the same towers that a GoPhone would though.

If buying w/o an upgrade, look for a GNex immfo. If not, phones from AT&T would probably be an HTC One X, SGSII, SGSII Skyrocket, or a Galaxy Note. I think those are the best ones they sell directly.

Honestly out of the phones VZW has now, I'd recommend the Maxx if you need hella battery life and a GNex if regular battery life is fine and you enjoy rooting/roms/kernels/etc.
