I think I may have something wrong with ADWLauncher.

How are you able to change the number of screens? For some reason, when I enter screen preferences there is no choice to edit the number of screens.

You gotta push it via adb or terminal emulator. A lot of them are in update.zip format and flash through recovery.

I believe ADW is 3 screens only.

You can change the number of screens on ADW. It is just done in a different way now:

Go to any of your homescreens, press menu and choose "Edit". From here you can press the "pin" icon to make the current screen your default. You can press the red "x" to delete the current screen, and you can press the "+" icons to the left/right to create a new screen in that direction. You can press the "<- ->" button to swap screens.

So you don't just pick a number anymore, you do it that way.

Most themes are just framewoek-res.apk and services.jar so these are the commands you would run.

I think you're ok but just make sure you make a nandroid backup first, that way if it doesn't work, you just restore it.

It's just the style of the theme. Everything is a transparent light grey to black fade and the icons tend to be colorful and sometimes cheesy. That one you are trying doesn't look all that bad but I've just grown to like the ones with very simple icons and plain (almost solid) black notification bars.

In the Nightly file from 8/26, currently running it, I love the ability to make custom shortcuts. This is real handy because of my email accounts. There are 2 college email accounts on the D1, so each has a school logo as the icon. Real handy, :imo

just for future reference, that is an ADW feature, not CM. I know CM comes with it, but I'm just saying if you ever try a different rom, ADW is in the market so you can still have those features. :shake:

Well, apparently the Nightly files are little bit different than CM6 RC1/2/3....my phone just went apeshit crazy. :roflpow:

Not totally apeshit, but the phone wouldn't load the com.android file, so it was forcing the phone to force close or report....then start the phone rebooting over and over.

Back to my nandroid backup, I go.

It allowed me to realize what it takes to load a theme on ze D1, I think there are some over on XDA that are for Nightly files. If I seriously want to run a theme, I will just run CM6 RC3. In that way, I wont have to wipe because going from CM to CM.

Have either of you heard anything about the Droid Pro or whatever new Android phones are coming out? Or should I wait until LTE on VZW gets the bugs worked out of it?

I don't think you do if you bootstrap recovery and download and install from rom manager.

You don't have to unroot. If you do it the stock recovery way you have to rename all the bloat tho.

Bootstrap is an app that hijacks the phone as it starts to boot up, before all the OS files are loaded. You can use it to flash roms (OSes) on the phone. You can also use it to make backups of the phone.

RSD Lite with patch
Drivers
SBF
Bootstrap
ROM Manager
FroYo update.zip incase you dont wanna do the ROM Manager way.
Instructions on how to do everything.

When you get to a PC, grab the file Mike linked to.

For now, you can install the bootstrap in a few seconds. Just grab this:http://koush.tandtgaming.com//motorola/droidx/DroidXBootstrap.apk

Install it like any other app using a file manager. Then run the app (Droid X Bootstrap in your app drawer) and click "Bootstrap Recovery" and let it do its thing. After a few seconds it will say "Success!" and you are done.

If you want to see what the recovery looks like (it reboots your phone), hit "Reboot Recovery" and check it out.

UD has mad history of kanging but honestly his roms usually run really well and come with a nice theme most of the time. I put UD eXtreme on my wifes Droid and its great. Even his theme is kanged though, it is a combination of like 3 existing themes or something. Looks good though.

Lol I don't judge about the kanging, just letting you know. I did pick it for my wifes phone because it seemed to run a lot smoother than some other roms. It is fast, bugless, looks good, comes with some apps installed already, etc. I'd definitely give it a try if it came to the X.

The LCD Density app essentially changes the resolution on your phone. I changed the density from 240 (default) to 200 and it is kinda cool lol I see more apps in the drawer, more notifications fit in the shade, the top bar and unlock sliders are a bit smaller, tons of shit fits on webpages, etc. And it is still nice and clear.

Only downsides I see are that beautiful widgets doesn't render correctly (naked would look fine) and it may make some stuff a little too small.

As for the HDMI app, I expected him to sell it lol

Just edited the eri.xml file in the framework-res.apk, you can make it say whatever you want.

Finally got it to work, but when I get to this step...
"you MUST navigate to the xUltimate folder and find "origi_frame" folder, and delete "guava.odex". It's a bad file, and interferes with deodexing process."

I have no idea where that folder should be. It installed two little icon on my desktop, one is main.exe and the other is test.exe, and I can't find anything on my phone either..

You can use ROM Manager to flash it too. Just go to install ROM from SD and choose the zip you wanna flash.

I had to pull the battery and leave it out for a second and then it loaded just fine. Tried to deodex through ROM Manager, and it froze for an hour. Attempt two now, if this fails I'm calling it a night.

Apparently booting into recovery then rebooting system takes you to CW and also putting your phone into bootloader but what if we actually need to be in bootloader?

How did you change it? Did you unzip it then rezip? If so then probably. To change stuff just open it with 7zip or the like but don't unzip it and copy the changes over and add it to the archive. Make sense?

Just did a factory wipe/reset from the boot into recovery screen. Phone was/is stuck on the M again.


And now I think I've killed my DX. :blah: factory reset didn't work, can't load/run anything when loading into recovery, nothing.

A factory reset from the stock recovery will get you stuck at the M since you had a theme. I think you need to sbf it. You'll need the sbf file and rsd lite. Both shoukd be in that file that Mike linked to a whike ago.
