Yeah they are both Android and can use the same apps but the X has "Blur" on top of it (Motorola's Modifications to the theme and stock apps) and the Samsung has TouchWiz. The X has a bigger screen than the Fascinate and is built a little tougher. Other than that, they are fairly similar as far as power goes.

Unless you find an update.zip with the stock kernel (doubtful) you'll have to load a backup, that's why they ALWAYS say to make a backup before flashing :shrug:

CM has been lazy and hasn't written it yet either. Looked for a hacked way on XDA. The best way is to partition your SD and then you can move everything. You don't wanna move Widgets or anything crucial just in case tho.

I've used both, both work well imo. I thought he meant the notification. If its the superuser popup then you disable notifications in the Superuser app.

What do you have now? Inc? If so, you'll get the bigger screen and improved battery life but speed/camera/memory/etc wise they are about the same. Up to you if its worth it.

You can root it, install a few roms that are out, install themes, etc. The only thing that you can't do is fuck with the kernel. There are even overclocking and underclockibg methods for the X that work fine without custom kernels. So yeah you can probably do everything you want to it.

That said, there are more roms available for the Inc than the X. But if its free then I would do it. I love my screen lol

As of late last night I am now part of the Droid family :droid: :cheeky2:

We were able to pickup the Fascinate as BOGO and with a rebate so we decided to go ahead and upgrade. I looked both the X and the fascinate over quite a bit and just fell in love with the Fascinate and how slim it was and how vibrant the screen was. Now its time to get a little brave and play around with it, prob not to the extent of you fellas but enough to my liking.

Looking for a decent case to help this guy survive what do you guys think of the Otterbox or Body glove cases? Otter box was nice for BB but got annoying because so bulky. Any good sites with decent deals on protective cases you can point me towards?

Get a TPU case off eBay if they have them for the Fascinate. Im not a fan of the Body Glove cases and unless you are really hard on phones the TPU case will be perfect.

Yeah I've had body glove cases and they were okay, the rubber peeled off after a while. The Otterboxes are well made but bulky like you said. I've also had shitty rubber/silicone ones and hard clip ons. My favorite BY FAR is my TPU case from eBay. I got mine from the seller pawavenue but I don't know if he has Fascinate cases.

Oh ya the case was $8 and was here in a few days. I've dropped this thing, got it a little wet, etc and it still looks brand new (the case and the phone). It doesn't pull my pockets out, doesn't fall off, doesn't damage the phone, but still offers protection and a bit of added grip in my hand.

I honestly should put one on because even though the glass is strong, it can still scratch if it comes in contact with rock/dirt and enough force.

On another note, my wife cracked the screen on her D1 :emo: the top right and top left corners cracked and there are some hairline scratches on the face. Nothing that is noticeable while using the phone and it still works fine. Might call insurance on it after Xmas sometime and hope she gets a D2 for the added powah

Juan - not sure yet, it was real nice having the ability to simply look at the screen and see the calendar, e.g. week view or agenda. Battery life is also a big thing. When the new T2 phones come out, I may pull the trigger on a new one. Still have my OG Droid 1, so it wouldn't be a big hassle to switch.

My calendar is a big thing with being in-school, and being connected to about 3 different google calendars within the academic department, e.g. my calendar/class assignments/info sessions/training sessions/etc.

I love it. BB keypad was too just to small for my fingers and was a PITA to type on for me. Transition has been very easy. I love how I can flip the phone to and it rotates the view making the keypad larger. Fascinate also has the "swipe" feature for texting and I use that over typing and love it.

The Star looks fairly nice, wish we knew the actual specs of it and not just rumors. The OS doesn't look bad either.

The Nook Color looks kinda cool lol but the engadget review annoyed me. Hey, one of you install Winamp and tell me if the ShoutCast part works. None of the stations work for me. I pick one and it either goes through the server list really quick and says "Failed to play the requested stream." or it just sits there rotating saying "Connecting to IP-ADDRESS (1/20)"
