I am on a family plan with my parents (DX, DInc2, regular phone), and when I get a new account (given I stay with VZW)....I will try my hardest to make them keep my unlimited package considering I have had a smartphone since 2006-2007.

as long as you don't move to a dumbphone at some point, you should be fine. Mike has switched from android to a palm device and then to an ****** and still has unlimited. Just never put a dumbphone on your line, even temporarily.

Looking at the specs for the Nexus, what's the big advantage? The display is smaller and probably isn't as sharp as the X. ICS and a faster processor. Anything else? I dunno....careful for what you wish for.

The Nexus has a larger display (4.64" vs the X's 4.3"), is higher resolution (1280x720 vs our 854x480) so it should be sharper, ICS, faster processor, more ram, 4G, unlocked bootloader, zero shutter lag camera, NFC, quicker updates from Google, going to have a large Dev community.

I am careful what I wish for

Too bad I can't afford it any time soon.

And don't get me wrong, I love my X and think it is a great phone. I am not mad that I am stuck with an X until I can afford a Nexus, I'm just sad that I can't have the Nexus asap.

That's one thing android is missing, that I wish was more like the ******. More ringtone/volume diversity. I hate that I have my music volume turned all the way up and then my dialer clicks are loud as shit. I wish each thing had it's own volume, like music loud speaker volume and separate volume for when there are headphones/aux cord plugged in.

Open your email or messaging app (whichever you want to change) and go to settings inside the app and you can change its notification sound. The one in the general settings is for any app that doesn't specify its own tone. I always set my txt to a different tone than everything else.

I tinted the GNex blue because the black DX on the black face of the GNex was hard to differentiate.

Overall it isn't all that much bigger. Just imagine the X bulging from the 4 sides lol

The X is a brick though. After using the inc 2 and 4s, I really think 4" is the sweet spot. Keep the phone small yet has enough screen to make things easier.

Second refurb has been solid. MUCH better reception indoors than Fascinato had so I'm pleased there. As far as stability no issues either, have yet to have to pull battery :chuy:

In other news, forgot I left le fascinate at a 1.7gHz overclock last night. Runs solid but i'm amazed it didn't kill the battery

If I ever have to pull the battery like I did in el Fascinato every other day I'm putting the phone back up VZws rear quarters. I have yet to have to pull Battery on Dx, and am quite happy about that.

Not sure why people are so worried about non-removable batteries. Tablet batteries cant be removed and there is no problems there. If it freezes, loops, etc just simply hold down the power button til it shuts off.

wife hates her D1. no matter what rom i put on it, it acts retarded in some way or another. Right now it runs smooth but occassionally freezes and needs a batt pull. Or she'll go to answer a call sometimes and it goes to speaker phone and then freezes so you can hear the caller out loud but they can't hear you and you can't hang up or anything, need to pull batt.

Need to try another rom i guess or put it to stock froyo :scared:

I am having good luck with alfonso's bugless beast 2.3.7 ROM with an 1100mhz kernel. Only complaints is that I don't like the dialer. This one doesn't let you type the name in and it brings up the contact, you have to manually find the contact and press it.

It runs mucho smoother than MIUI did. MIUI bogged the lil D1 down, even with the 1100 kernel.

She liked MIUI looks wise but like you said, it bogged it down bad, even with some OC.

When it comes to the X, there are regular roms that HAVE to be based on stock blur builds and there are 2nd-init roms that change everything but the kernel. Unfortunately, most devs stick with the blur based ones for some reason. Besides CM7 and MIUI, I can't even name a 2nd Init rom. So I hope there is a 2nd-Init dev willing to give it a go since the blur-based devs won't be able to.

Ah okay. That kinda sucks. The CM/MIUI/ICS stuff for the Fascinate is a complete change. The filesystem is reformatted from RFS to MTD which more or less turns it into a Nexus S, since it has the same hardware, screen etc. Downside is you have to flash back to stock and re partition which doesn't always work in the event you want to use an RFS based rom.

Cam, in case you don't follow MIUI for the X that closely, here is an update. The dev who has been porting it (and doing a bamf job at it) is going to get a GNex and stop working on the X. Before that he plans to release one final MIUI release. He wants it as up to date as he can get it and he wants to fix as many things as possible. He already has 720p video working and he said on twitter that he may have figured out the 1% increments and the green LED while charging. He also wants to attempt to figure out HDMI before he gets the GNex.

Yeah DXC is the developer that has been porting MIUI and will be leaving the DX after the GNex comes out.

The new dev that will take over the ports will be aceoyame. He is the one that released the ICS-ish version and will release his own GB version soon.

When I ran MIUI for a couple of weeks to play it out I rigged up a theme with GB icons so it at least looked presentable. Just couldn't find anything online or in the theme market that looked good.

If it ran decent on le Fascinate I might could put up with that, but as it stands it doesn't run well at all. Which is sort of strange considering how well CM runs and there are a whole host of other AOSP roms out there for it.

MIUI is smooth as buttah and efficient as fuck on le battree on the DX. I love it.

As for cartoonish, it seems like most of the themes made by chinitos are flashy, cheesy, cartoony, etc. However, the stock theme is nice and clean and most of the themes on XDA, MIUI.us, RW, etc are fairly nice. Currently running ICS theme with a full-page lockscreen and icons from something else that I forget. Yet another reason MIUI is win, can piece together themes however you want.

Fascinato turned into quite a :poop: for me, grew tired of it and am glad I switched. Dx has been great so far, except for lemon they initally sent :roflshrug:
