jay ive been using tiny kernel. it has alot of features and runs smooth for me. i also use an app called trickstermod to make my changes (overclock, colors, etc) here is the link for tiny if you want to try it.

download trickstermod from the playstore and you can adjust the gov, oc, color settings and lots more. you can also toggle fastcharge in there but its easier to use the aokp toggle.

When I go back from LJ7 builds and AOSP, AOSP just doesn't capture light and bring the quality for some reason.

orly? It happens on my phone (AOKP) and on wifeys fassy (Hellybean). The lockscreen looks like its flickering back and forth between the album art widget and the camera widget or something and its screwy to unlock it.

Oh and for those of you using imgur, what app do you use to upload?

I've been using "imgur for Android" forever but lately it has sucked. Sometimes it won't upload even though my connection is fine and when it does upload, it returns null addresses for the image (http://i.imgur.com/null.null) and the pic never actually shows up in my imgur account. :blahclap: Used to work great but doesn't work for shit now.

Maybe I just need to uninstall/reinstall/login, I've been restoring it from Titanium for forever.

Are any of you using custom kernels on the GNex? I've been questioning the validity of them on the N4. Seems like Franco, Faux and Trinity all have issues with random reboots, data drops, etc. On top of that all they seem to be adding are a few governors and the ability to over clock stuff. This thing is so fast with the stock kernel that I just don't see the point. The only thing on this phone that seems to need fixing is the ugly default screen calibration.

I am running tiny kernel. It has color adjustments, ability to use fast charge and the normal oc stuff. Also prolly gonna jinx myself but no lock screen music bugs on today's aoskp build

I only use kernels for colors and fastcharge. So lately I've used what comes with the rom as long as it has those built in.

i am now on the build zaphod posted today. it took a full wipe for it to work right. dirty flashing his over a working aoskp still resulted in systemui fc. i think it has to do with how they now have nav bar and nav ring split up into separate setting menus.

I have a question that is probably a dumb one.

The school gave me a phone to use for email, and vendor calls etc so I don't have to give out my personal number.
It's got unlimited data, and all the bells and whistles.

I hate carrying 2 phones. It's annoying and gets in the way. I end up leaving my work one laying on my desk unless I know I'm expecting a call.
My question is, can you have 2 lines on 1 phone? Like say I wated to put my work # on my personal phone and at night or evening be able to turn it off, or make it where I'm unavailable and ppl can leave a voicemail?
That would be badass if possible. I know I could forward my work # to my personal phone, thats the only option I've come up with.

Google voice is the only way i know of to use 2 numbers on one phone. the call forewarding might be your best option here.

THing is, if I place outgoing calls I don't want my personal # to show up on caller ID.

setup a google voice number and forward your work cell to it, that way you can tell Voice to send it to VM after a certain time or set a different voicemail message or whatever

as for the caller ID thing, you'd have to either call them using Voice (they'd see your Voice number, not your work cell) or use *67 and call them back blocked. You'll forget to do that though.

Richland (9 miles west of here) and
Lumpkin (where Jen's house is)

I don't think the tower here in Preston is working at all. Sitting at work, less than 2 miles from tower, 1 bar of signal at most. Location always says Weston, GA

Richland is 4G, but only when you're right beside the tower. half of the town is 3g, half is 4g. wtf?

Weston's is 3g and works damn good apparently.

I called verizon and told them about tower here in town. They said they see nothing wrong. I told them I'd shoot one antenna per day w my rifle until they came to fix it.
They said they'd callthe cops. I handed my phone to deputy. He told them he'd help me. :jester:

they can direct 3g or 4g to certain areas, the tower doesn't always shoot the signal out in all directions. There was one point where the signal at my parents house went from decent to shit and never got better. After lots of complaining, they eventually checked the tower and said something like

"Oh, we redirected most of that tower out into the middle of the desert for a project where people walked around in the desert with iPads to record info, we never moved it back"

so they were pointing most of the tower into a place where no one used it :blahclap:

me and main server guy are always on the lookout for towers around here, they are hard to spot sometimes because of fake palm tree and cactus shenanigans. There is one fake palm tree that is TMobile, it says so on the fence around the base. I think they also put them on top of buildings here but I'm not sure about that.

With Google pushing them in the right direction and the new RAZR update looking less bloaty, I can haz hope. Everything they've released recently has come out with something that is already "outdated" as far as phones go. Either the screen looks worse than previous ones or the internals are slower or whatever.

If Moto releases something on par with the S4 then will definitely think about it. Idk if Google would influence the bootloader though. :hmm:

Google pretty much said "VZW are bitches, fts" with the N4 (which is understandable), so hopefully they don't influence Moto there. I think they wanted it to be available on all carriers too though, right? So it could actually compete with the Sammys?

I also installed an app called Gainos Fresh Wallpapers that changes your wallpaper every so often (you choose interval) with a random one from Flickr's "Explore" stream. I have it set to change every two hours and they are usually nice wallpapers. Every now and then its some fgt dog or something but you can just open the app and tell it to grab another one.

Good point. I've made the mistake of opening my mouth at several people of what android can do or what I've done to my device. At least 1-2 times a week I get smartphone related questions.

the one lady at work that asks me for help occasionally brought me her daughters razr because it wouldnt turn on. she had messed with the sim card. turns out she had shoved the sdcard into the sim card slot. they are both in the same spot next to each other. its a genius design by moto the same way they put the usb and hdmi ports next to each other. she had to take the phone to the vzw store and they got the card out for her. i didnt have any tweezers to pull it out.

I've pretty much decided to use my upgrade and deal with 2gb per month. Also, they are going to announce the S4 in a couple days. You can choose between that, the Note 2, the HTC whenever verizon gets it (probably a Droid branded one), etc. or you can pick up an S3 or DNA or something for probably a decent price ones those new ones drop.

When I used to tether my laptop at jens house I'd use 3-4 Gb a month. I think now i barely break 2. I'm at like 1.054 this month and bill cycle ends the 23rd.
I have DSL at her house now, ad well ad mine. Which I use primarily because the 3g is so slow. I only use 4g when going to another town.

Is it worth to wait for s4 or to ahead and get something now?

They're all "fast" I reckon. Lol. I've never seen this phone even try to hiccup. I've tried out Carbon, CM, AOKP and of course stock and no matter what everything is always fluid and instant. Today's build of AOKP seems to be settling in nicely.

One thing, make sure you update the phone to 4.2.2 first or the autofocus won't work with 3rd party ROMs. I've never had issues but some people mentioned it was still broken after just updating the radio files but a full install fixed it.
