Yeah, the only thing making me not want to try it is that they said the nav button settings can be screwy. Some people got FCs (although B31 might have fixed that?), the color-changer automatically making any icons you choose into solid blocks of color, etc.

They have a navbar just for the menu key to pop up in some apps? They should have either used a full navbar or included a menu key down below imo.

They're kind of in a box, so I can see why they did that. Consumers aren't going to jump into something that seems foreign to them. (zomg no buttons wtf?!)

They're trying to keep customers they already have an gain new ones so it's the best of both worlds. The software MENU button is forward thinking and the hardware keys will keep consumers.

Honestly speaking, newer Sense is quite lovely compared to STOCK Android. People get all fussy when comparing it to custom ROMs, but that's apples to oranges. I'd take it over TouchWiz just about. So. Pretty.

The only way you can loose unlimited is if you remove data from your line by activating a dumbphone on it. That's why I keep le D1 laying around as a spare in case something happens to my or my wife's phone and we need a spare until warranty/insurance sends new one.

Renewing doesn't do anything except use an upgrade and put an ETF on your account so you stay with them for two years.

TWRP is going to be win as fuck once the bugs are worked out. Backing up and restoring take less than half the time it does in CWM. Not to mention you can flash more than one zip and once and it has a built in file manager. Oh, and you can use ADB while your in it as well.

Which CWM are you using? I use the "regular" 5.xxx that comes along with anything CM-based. Never tried to make a backup on the touch recovery. Maybe it has something to do with the YAFFS2/MTD filesystem le Fassy uses?

I've used the regular CWM on DX and GNex and now I'm using the touch CWM on my GNex. Has always been pretty slow.

Btw, what CPU governor are y'all using now? I've been on Lazy forever it seems like, but switched to Conservative and it's so much better than OnDemand or Lazy. Battery life has been great the past two days and no more of that annoying stutter of the lockscreen animation when waking up the phone like the Lazy governor had, and MUCH better battery life than OnDemand.

Deadline scheduler has been kept the same. The kernel defaults to FIOPS but it's too unstable.

Le Fassy came out in 2010 and it's still good enough hardware wise to run the latest version of Android, has as much dev support as any non-Nexus phone, etc. The point I'm trying to make is hardware specs are really a non issue now on basically every new phone rolling out. They're all roughly the same and will be that way for the foreseeable future. Look at the Inc2 and Razr. Both have been out awhile and prices are coming way own buying them secondhand, but neither are "outdated."

Razr w/ upgrade is $199. Cheapest Razr on CL here is $375.

I know you don't pay as much when you upgrade as we do because you buy old phones. Yes, your "old" phone still has decent specs and isn't a POS, that isn't what I'm saying. My DX was plenty fast and had nothing wrong with it but I couldn't wait to get a bigger better beastier phone. Since that is the mentality I have (ooo must have shiny new beast), the contract makes more sense for me. It would cost more than the upgrade price (even +$30) to get a GNex off contract.

If I didn't have that mentality then yes, there are plenty of "old" phones with decent specs to be had. I could go buy one of them now and throw it on my line, a contract doesn't prevent me from upgrading Chriz style. I don't see the bad side of a contract unless you plan on hopping to different carriers every now and then. I like VZW and have no plans on leaving, so I might as well get a $600 phone for less than half the price. :shrug:

Thats a good ways out, there will probably be some nice phones available. When is your actual upgrade date? They usually let you upgrade early.

oh and I checked and AOKP officially supports the Inc2. You can change clock color, center it, etc with the built in settings. The battery and signal would still be blue.

But if you had AOKP, you should (in theory) be able to use Lucid, unless it's for GNex only :think:

If it happens after you reset nav bar you can go back to nav bar settings and reassign a glow color and that will stop the systemui force close

Just grabbed the latest one and its doing the same thing. When I search, it finds AOT. I tap it and it adds it to my list, but when I tap it on my list, it doesn't open. Doesn't do anything. Fgtry is afoot.

Even with the patch the camera and camcorder are buggy. Would stay away as daily driver of camera is crucial to you. Was hoping to get the wife's phone on same Rom as my nexus since IMO it's the best one or there but this needs more time.

Whether or not GNex themes work depends on the framework. It's the same between the Fassy and GNex so that's why they work 100% from what I understand. No problems with image size, etc.

the camera opens, and the buttons, zoom, etc are at the bottom, but no screen views. camera still takes pictures, you just dont know about picture quality, what picture is off, until the picture is posted in gallery or via mms.

I don't think any of us have ever used Wirefly but the Android blogs and Android forums have plenty of people who have used it successfully afaik. But yeah, I'd probably use Amazon if it was me.

If you plan to unlock/root it then do it right away IMO. The unlock process will wipe the entire internal memory so anything you do before unlocking will be undone.

If that is what you plan on doing then unlock, recovery (TWRP imo), and pick a rom. For a stock-like rom with lots of goodies added, try AOKP, Liquid, or Gummy. For something different, try MIUI. You might want to flash a set of radios too.

You can ask me or the Mikes (chevyrado/MikeH) about most of those things since we are constantly flashing shit on our GNex

This is a new build of MIUI that uses ICS as a base. Still roughly the same thing though.

I always end up back on AOKP. It is updated often, has more theme options, and has all the options I want.

Yeah, the casing is chipped by the speakers and has a scratch on the bottom corner of screen but it isnt on the actual display. The cracking is common though apparently after doing some research. For $100 though I figured fuck it.
