So if the Huawei isn't that great, I want the LG pretty bad. But I don't know why. If rumors are true, the screen is the same size/resolution as my G2, the same amount of RAM, both are LG, slightly smaller battery, and there's nothing wrong with my G2.

On the other hand, the processor is faster and probably more efficient, it comes with M and 2 more years of updated AOSP goodness, lots of ROMs, it has a fingerprint reader and front facing speakers.

The new N5 should be a nice upgrade for you brah. Screen is slightly larger, hexa-core processor, camera should be improved, around 400mAh larger battery, plus fingerprint reader.

The G2 camera, battery, and screen size are better than your N5 so it's less of an upgrade for me but should be good upgrade for you imo.

But with that said, the Moto N6 looks like a beast (huge fucking phone) and the Huawei will prob be similar.

I was really close to getting that one. The reviews of people who separated the screen/body of their N7 when popping the corners off to stand it up scared me :jester:

When I had an N7 from work I had a Poetic slimline. It was really nice but towards the end (not even a whole year) it had started to wear a little.

i havent had any problems with it so far. i also have the moko slim case too. but when i flip the cover over to the back the magnets still activate the screen off feature so that was annoying.

I have a G2. It's still a great phone. It's mostly like an N5 but the screen is a tad larger, the battery is 3000mAh, the camera is better, it has double-tap to wake, rear buttons, idk what else is different.

You'll have to get used to LG's skin/apps unless you root it and flash an AOSP-based ROM (which kinda undos the camera improvement).

I don't find it to be slow or anything, the only reason I'm looking at the next nexus is that I still love flashing ROMs and I much prefer stock Android over the LG (or any other OEM) skin. Plus, the new ones have fingerprint readers, faster processors, more ram, and more resolution so FIDIL.

Oh and the latest that the G2 has officially is 5.0.2, I think the N5 will be getting Marshmallow. No clue if LG will give the G2 anything newer.

I think G2 development is still on-going, but Juan and the others have more LG specific experiences than I.

If you are looking at Samsungs, I have had great luck with my S5. I think one could pick up S4/S3s pretty cheap too. As to development, no clue. My S5 is rooted/rommed, but have been out of custom ROM/root game for quite sometime.

Given the right price, I would sell you a S5 or Galaxy Nexus too.

Yea, the iPhone camera has me spoiled. I'd like to run CM ideally, but I know that tends to come with a few drawbacks. Hell, my old Fascinate still takes better pictures than my N4 did on an old AOKP rom.

Motos are pretty damned close to AOSP. You could look for one of those and root/CM it.

There are CM builds for the G2 and afaik they work great. The camera isn't crap on AOSP either, it's just a tad worse than LGs ROM.

Saw people saying the bezels were huge. I don't see it. Plus, thin/nonexistent bezels are only nice if you don't have a case. Even on my G2, when the case is on it can sometimes be hard to swipe in from the side. Pain in the ass. But either way, I don't see the bezels looking that big. :think:

For its part, the Nexus 5X scored decently with 1,000 on its single core test and 2,919 on multi-core.

Compare that to Huawei’s Nexus 6P, which also ran through GeekBench recently. Its 3GB of RAM and Snapdragon 810 were enough to score 1,310 and 4,431 for single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

The current/old N6 scored 1,051 and 3,294 when running the same benchmark (running on Android M preview to be as fair as possible).

So as far as power goes it looks like N6P > N6 > N5X.

Maybe the N5X is going to be really cheap like the N4/N5, it would explain the lower specs. The N6P will probably be priced similar to the Moto (when it was new). We'll see!

so heres a funny story. yesterday i decided to open up my "broken" maxx. i looked all over for any signs of damage to the battery, usb port, and circuit board. i didn't find anything that looked bad. so i put it all back together and plugged it in to my laptop to try to rescue some stuff off the internal storage. the thing booted right up like nothing ever happened to it :wtf: so i do an adb pull of /sdcard and am happy. i throw it up on swappa and it sells in like 2-3 hours. so i got a little extra money. decided not to tell the wife since she wasnt too pleased that i broke it in the first place lol.

battery has been good for me so far. i can make it until 9-10 before the low batt alert goes off. i dont use wifi at all so its all on lte too. i havent noticed it getting too hot like my maxx used to when i use it alot. it does get a little warm when its on the turbo charger. turbo charger is bamf as well. i can get an almost full charge in under an hour

I looked through TMos offerings and after weeding out old or low spec phones and Samsungs (new ones are built well but after my Note3, dnw to deal with TW/bloat again), I'm pretty much left with a G4 or a pre-owned N6 (overpriced compared to ebay/amazon sales lately).

So if I can't jump to a non-tmo phone I'll either pick one of those or keep the G2 for the full 2 years so I can pick up a phone retail.

Sony's Z5 is supposed to have the best smartphone camera ever but we'll see if it ever comes to the US successfully. The only Sony on TMos site right now is a Z1S :pow:

The credit company that does TMos credit checks (and lots of other companies) says 15M peeps info was accessed. No financial info was accessed, just identity info. Not all 15M are TMo customers. I guess it only affects people who had their credit checked by TMo from Sept 2013 until Sept 2015. We got our phones in March of 2013 so should be fine.

They're offerin 2 years of free credit/identity theft protection for anyone who wants it tho, might do it just for fun.

me too :rofl2: I was super pissed about not being able to get an N6P (and I'd probably still choose it if TMo had it since specs are a little better and it's pure android) but damn the V10 looks nice. Plus, I've actually been running a mostly-stock LG rom for months now and liking it so FIDIL.

As long as I can root and make a couple small changes, I'll be happy.

Also, I think I read that there won't be an international/european version, just US and Korea. Most TMo phones are pretty much rebranded international versions and can use international ROMs (I could on my G2 and Note3). So no international V10 would mean even less dev support. :(

As long as I get a slightly modded stock (or root + xposed) I'll be fine.

Apparently this is how you unlock the TMo G4:

1. Head to Settings and tap on Developer options. Tap on "Enable OEM Unlock"

2. Hit Yes and your device should reboot.

Then you can flash recovery and root/rom.

I hope the V10 is just as friendly.

That's correct it uses moto display which I also had on my maxx and I like it better than an led honestly it tells you more without having to wake the phone

it does handle multiple notifications from multiple apps. i dont think it numbers them just gives a preview of what each one is when you touch the screen.
