Liberty and Focused are both based on GummyJar 2.5 so they are fairly similar. But so far Focused has been more stable. I've only had it on since last night though so :shrug:

You should wipe when you update to .22, its a hassle but you generally have to with MIUI. Then try a P3 kernel.

this was the response i sent to my dad and sister in regards to "getting an apple iphone." i actually used quotes and such in it...to more state my hatred towards the "apple fagboys." people make it seem like the iphone is gold.

Sorry for the long response, but there is actually lots of information of my decision of not to get an iPhone. I feel the device is behind in terms of VZW technology, and technology of a mobile device. Plus, we must all consider, as an individual, its our device. All I can say is do your research first Kate, if you do plan on getting one first. Brian have fun with iTunes if Kate plans to get an iPhone.

There are new Android based phones coming out in the summer that are Tegra 2 dual-core technology (devices released at CES). Also, the Tegra 3's are supposed to be released and announced at MWC in the next couple weeks. Just simply look at some of the Androids coming out, whether they be GSM, HSPA+, CDMA, etc, HTC Thunderbolt, Motorola Droid Bionic, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Atrix 4G, LG Optimus Black, LG Optimus 2x...just to name a few. Some of those aren't even dual-core.

The iPhone is already behind in terms of technology, its only a 3G rated "smartphone." The new Verizon 4G/LTE network will not be supported on the CDMA iPhone. Now, only certain cities are going to be 4G/LTE launch cities, but I am for sure not going to get a device that is NOT 4G/LTE capable since normally you are supposed to go 2 years without an upgrade. From a VZW release on 4G/LTE, "By the end of 2011, they are expecting to be in at least 140 markets and covering 2/3 of the U.S. once 2013 finishes up." (http://www.droid-life.com/2011/01/14/verizons-2011-4g-lte-market-cities/) Yes take it as you may, but technology is out-of-date by the time it gets to public, but I am going to the newest device that is avaliable to me.

VZW has also announced different pricing plans for the iPhone, such as unlimited data, not a big seller, considering I already have a "grandfathered" plan on my Blackberry. I am not sure about Kate yet, in terms of that. (http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-news/119532-verizon-changes-data-plans-again.html) They, VZW, has not released information on the 4G/LTE plans yet. The various forums have not mentioned anything about those, and probably waiting an announcement at anytime, possibly MWC.

No, I am not getting an iPhone for the following reasons. These are only a few I have researched so far. Also, here is a link on bgr in regards to the CDMA iPhone (http://www.bgr.com/2011/01/11/heres-where-the-verizon-iphone-falls-short/)

* 1. To change wallpapers, ringtones etc you have to jailbreak. Jailbreak = automatic voided warranty...
* 2. Android I can simply pop the cover off. I shouldnt have to take apart your phone and void your warranty to swap batteries. If I want a warranty I have to ship it to an Apple place, and be without a phone. If they (VZW) do it like AT&T, AT&T didn't even have iPhones in stock at their stores. * 3. iPhone you can only download via iTunes/App Store... Android you can use google market or app planet
* 4. Stuck with iTunes for syncing (we all know how much I love iTunes :) ) ...Androids sync just like a USB computer attachment and google services.
* 5. iPhones you are stuck with 16gb/32gb internal memory. (no expandable memory)...Most androids support up to 32gb SD cards, plus have internal memory.


When it comes cell phones and other technology devices, its all personal decisions. End of statement. I do own two ipods, and use them all the time so me being biased against Apple is not entirely true. I would have no problem buying a Macbook Pro, other than Apple's outrageous price. All I say is do the research on one before you go and get one. I have stated before, I am simply not an Apple fan because of their products and the restrictions they put on their products. For example, look at that article from foxnews about the screws they are using.

After all, we are the consumers and the individuals who bought the device. Thus we should be able to use and alter the device, as we see fit, not how Apple or Steve Jobs designed it.

That throws a loop into me wanting to get a 4G LTE device...I don't even use that many minutes/SMS/MMS/data in a month just like to keep up-to-date with technology.

The fact that they are using different radios to achieve data and phone coverage at the same time on a 3G device is great. I only want that ability, so I can see the area code of the number calling.

now when i shut off my phone and turn it on, bootleg with its green menu turns on, and i have to yank the bat, and restart it to get it to turn on normal.

i deleted the app, and it still does it. advice?

i like quicksettings. It is always in your notification drop-down and it has a built in flashlight as well as quick access to other settings like wifi, brightness, volume control, gps, etc. I use the shit out of it.

Did you already activate it on your line or no?

I'd recommend entering your contacts on googles site instead of straight into the phone because 1. it is quicker and 2. if you add them to the phone and don't change the option to "Google" instead of "Phone" in each contact, they won't be backed up. It's an Eris/Sense thing.

Juan, for right now I'm going to run the latest OTA update (2.1) and see how it runs. From scouting the droid forums 2.2 seems to run REALLY well on teh Eris with it overclocked a little.

When I had the Eris, I ran a vanilla 2.1 that was pretty smooth but that was quite a while ago, I'm sure the 2.2 is newer and nicer.

Those 2.2 instructions look pretty straightforward. I recommend once you have the custom ROM on the phone that you try out wifi and sending/receiving pic messages though. Those were the two things that most roms had problems with when I had the Eris. Hopefully they have figured that out by now though.

If you want 2.2 tho you will have to do a custom ROM.

It isn't a bad little phone. If you were buying one I'd recommend something else but for free and coming from a non-smartphone, it should be decent for you. Also, if you put a decent ROM on it, it should fix most of the issues that the phone has. ROMs will make it a little faster, can make it more stable, etc.

Ok, so I have been trying to use BT to play Pandora via my Samsung Fascinate Droid to my Pioneer x920bt HU in my truck. I can control the functions of play/pause and such but I cant get any music though. Is there a setting I need to change on my phone like a mass storage to portable or something?

Rofl that's how I learned too. I got an android phone because I have always liked Google, didn't want AT&T, and didn't like my BB or WinMo. After I got it, I read everything I could find and just dove straight into it.
