anytime anyone asks about a case, we recommend TPU. Most of us have TPU cases at this point because they are win. Best cave I've ever had an also the cheapest. Mine was $8.

It is a polyurethane that is thicker than silicone, not sticky, keeps its shape, easy to remove but doesn't fall off, thick enough to protect but not bulky, doesn't damage the phone like hard cases, blah, blah, blah

get one, they're cheap enough that you won't waste much if you don't like it (you will)

Yeah, the digitizer is what's broken. Easy fix. All of the 4G phones have quirks, even the GN so development is hit or miss. Would be sex though.

Well shit. I guess I can take it back tomorrow night after work. Just read the receipt, says $35 restocking fee. Hopefully that's only on returns and not exchanges. If so, fuck that.... if that's the case, I'm sticking with the Charge. I already paid $20 extra for my early upgrade.

Honestly, it's better unless you're hellbent on getting cheap upgrades every two years. You can use any current smartphone with the same network as everyone else in you're on Verizon. Dunno what other companies do. It's sometimes cheaper too. Like $75/month for my unlimited data/texting with X amount of airtime.

When my contract ran out last year I used the same phone I had, but bought a cheap ($15 or so) prepaid phone from walmart or some damn where. Activated it with my same number that I had on contract and swapped the ESN back to my old phone on Verizon's web site. You can manage the account on there just like anything else and set it up for auto-pay.

Yea. Depending on the carrier it can vary though. I "think" ATT has a smaller coverage area with prepay stuff, but verizon doesn't.

Yea, it's been working since the first alpha build but it was sketchy until the 4.0.3 sync. It shares the hardware drivers with the Nexus S so they had to wait for that source code.

ICS on DX is in decent shape. Wifi stability is screwy and a few other things aren't 100% but there is no camera whatsoever. Apparently most builds of ICS have no camera because they need to be rewritten from scratch :uhoh:

Fassy got lucky that it has so much in common with the NS :drool:

Honestly you aren't missing much besides the screen and crazy kernels. The main developer for it just got a GN but since it's already merged into cm9 it'll always have support as long as that continues. If you can get a cheap one though, go for it. Impossible to brick.

I enter dates into the phone for appts and such and they dont show up in my Gmail calendar, just my phone, then I add stuff to Gmail calendar and it wont show up in my phone calendar.

I just tried applications/calendar/clear data and that seems to have helped some.

In your accounts you can select what syncs whether its calendars, contacts, etc. For example, my contacts are saved on my gmail, but due to having school accounts my calendars are saved on the school and training center accounts. you just have to make sure the correct items are allowed to sync.

Oh yeah, try this. I just installed on DX and then removed. It'll come in handy in the future. Even though quite a few of us have a linked dropbox account. Nothing wrong with having a free 50gb online storage place.

yeah, go into My Accounts or whatever it is on the stock DX rom and choose your gmail then make sure calendars are checked.

You can sync your google contacts in iTunes. If it doesn't ask when you first setup it up, go to your device tab and at the top it should say contacts and you can set it up there.

It's a bitch to switch between LTE and 3G phones. The LTE sim cards are only good for 24 hours once you take it off your line and you have to go and get a new one.

I read some VZW article about the phones not authenticating on the network right, thats why the data connection drops and stays off sometimes. You have to swap to airplane mode and back, or reboot fully to get it to connect back.
Mine has dropped at least 6 times today.

My parent's phones will maintain a strong 3g signal when I'm sitting right beside them no matter what.

The first one is an updated version of the one we had been using (1.10.22), the second one uses pieces of ICS taken from MIUI Scotland. I haven't tried either of them since I'm happy with CM7 for now.

If you decide to go the CM7 route then you want RevNumbers' fixed version that runs on the GB kernel. The easiest way to get it is to install Rom Toolbox from the market (free) and download the latest version from there.

Don't remove anything with Moto or Blur in the name to be safe. Don't remove anything Yahoo either. If you remove sthe wwrong thing you might bootloop and have to sbf lol

You only get in trouble when you remove stuff that Moto has integrated into their shit. Moto, Blur, Yahoo, BackupAssistant, and some others you should leave alone. You can kill Blockbuster, any games that came with it, My Verizon, VZ Navigator, etc.

SU is still there, but root explorer never asked for SUperuser permission.. I cant mount as R/W

yeah it seemed like my D1 backed up crazy fast compared to my DX. But it may have something to do with the bootloader and half-ass recovery. Or it's just the fact that Android has grown, some apps are bigger now, etc. Dunno.

It's actually le Fascinate. :read: Most of the kernel related stuff from the NS has been ported over to the other Galaxy S phones now and finally AOSP is catching up. I haven't turned on the Nexus in a couple of days since I haven't activated it.

Chriz, they hold their value because everyone wants them and knows what they are. They also don't get outdated as quick. My DX has been outdated by the DX2, Bionic, and RAZR already. And those are just other Motos in similar form factors, there are other phones that outdate it too. :emo:

It seems IMO to be much more a case of users blindly paying well over market value because they hold apple on a pedestal.

True... but $100 is way better than a cracked screen on a 3 day old phone. And a hell of a lot better than $700 for a new one. As much as both of them charge, fuck them. If they didn't want it to happen, require insurance at time of purchase, or phone inspection to add after.

Yeah, $100 isn't that bad. I might get the best buy insurance on my GNex, not sure yet tho. It's $10/mo but there is no deductible if something happens. The only downside is they don't cover loss/theft, only damage (any kind).
