im in the same boat as Jay. i live in between 2 very small towns but the sprint coverage map is a little better for me. Just fair voice and 3g coverage. vzw is even weak at my house no 4g and 2-3bars of 3g. i do get vzw 4g at work so thats not bad.

THIS is why. When you activate a dumbphone (LG EnV) you remove data from your plan. Then you activate the D2 and you add new data which has to be tiered.

Activating a dumbphone on a plan w/ unlimited = death to unlimited. :(

So if I order Gnex off CL (suggest good place to get one here) and activate, unlimited should stay? IDGAF about how new the phone is. The Gnex looks like all I'll need b/c I like flashing roms and stuff. But this bionic makes it nearly impossible.

my wife has a razr. she likes it. it is a pain to work on tho. took forever for me to get ics on there. had to manually remove bootstrap for it to go through. there is a nice toolkit that makes rooting and stuff really easy tho.

Screen is so much nicer too. Brother and dad both have Bionics. I was using my dads a few days ago and DNW qHD pentile. :demPixels:

I know the GNex is pentile too but it isn't even CLOSE to as noticeable as those qHD motos.

Bionic = 540 x 960 pixels, 256 ppi pixel density
GNex = 720x1280 pixels, 316 ppi pixel density

GNex is same resolution as a 720p TV. Also the GNex screen is 4.6" while the Bionic is 4.3"... although part of the screen is used up by the buttons so actual screen size isn't all that larger. But you do get more pixels crammed in there and the brightness/colors are better than the Moto. Dads phone looked washed out too me.

not by much but Bionic definitely felt heavier when I held it. Here be the dimensions/weight of both:

Bionic: 66.9 x 127.5 x 10.99 (mm), 158g
GNex: 67.94 x 135.5 x 9.47 (mm), 150g

So it's bigger arround but 1.5mm thinner and weighs 8g less.

hmm well the on-screen buttons are win because if you flash the right roms you can change the order they are in, the icons they use, how many there are, etc.

The camera has a 0-second shutter. Takes pics fast as fuck, can just tap tap tap and take multiple pics easily.

It has NFC so you can sign up for Google Wallet and use it to pay at places that have NFC-capable credit/debit terminals. You can also use "NFC Tags". You buy them, program them, and stick them places. So you can have a tag in the truck that turns volume up, turns on bluetooth, and opens maps or something. Or one at the front door that turns on wifi, turns off gps/bluetooth, etc.

It has JellyBean before your Bionic even has ICS :cheeky:

Since you'll have JB, you'll have Google Now which is similar to iPhone's Siri, Face Unlock, Chrome browser, and whatever else requires ICS/JB.

32gb internal memory.

IDK what else, you already have LTE, dual core (although the GNex's processor is faster by a little), 1gb ram, etc since you have a Bionic.

Only things Bionic has that GNex doesn't are SD card slot, FM radio, and 8mp camera (GNex is 5mp).

When you first unlock the phone, it wipes the entire phone, including your internal storage. After that, it isn't touched when you flash. You can flash bootloaders, kernels, roms, themes, wipe system/data, etc and it won't touch that partition, just like the sdcard on the OG/Bionic/etc. If you flash a screwy rom and can't boot, you can always flash something else to get to your sdcard or access it from recovery using adb. If the phone was to die completely then I think you'd be screwed. If you're that paranoid then you may want to plug it in occassionally and do an "adb pull /sdcard" to grab everything and pull it to the computer. Although that will take a while when you fill it up with music/pics/etc.

If you were only worried about backing up the texts, you could use an app that saves them to the sdcard and then just do "adb pull /sdcard/smsbackup" or whatever.

All my previous phones had sdcards and I honestly haven't missed it at all. But my phone hasn't died on me either lol

Check local CLs and Swappa for Bionics to get an idea on selling price.

You might want to ask around, I'm not sure if you'll lose unlimited by going to 3G and back to 4G. You SHOULDNT but you never know with fgt VZW. Otherwise I think the worst that couldn't happen would be that you'd need to stop by a VZW store and pickup a new sim card (free).

From what I've read in the last few minutes, I'll have to get a new SIM. BC deactivating the 4G kills that sim, but that the Gnex uses a micro SIM anyhow. So running by the store shouldn't be a problem.

Right now I have 16gb of music on phone, which can definitely be sifted through and most deleted b/c it' s also on my ipod.
As far as pictars, etc I don't have any that I just can't live without that aren't already on SD card and I can always keep it for safekeeping. The texts are also on the sd card.

if I could sell bionic (since it's only 2 wks old) for $175 I'd get a Gnex as soon as I can get paid. I guess I could go ahead and list it.

Just SystemUI when I was in the Camera. Camera would work fine but SystemUI kept crashing and the Nav/Statusbars went away. Had to tap the preview to get into gallery so SystemUI would come back lol

I'm gonna flash AOKP soon, it only hides the statusbar clock.

Anyone on JB, when you use the keyboard in the Messaging app, are there no longer shortcuts to symbols (? ! @ etc) above the letters in that dark area? Also, when tapping a word to auto-complete it doesn't automatically add a space like in ICS. Is this a JB thing or a bug?

It does SHOW a space but if you start typing it will add the space. That's how it works for me anyway. It only shows numbers above the top row.

That's how I did it last time and ended up with weather card notification and face unlock both working. Although the goo apps were updated so the EOS may not be needed, will try w/o EOS ones first to see if the new goos are good enough.

yep, unlocking is built into the phone, no hax0ry needed. just plug it in and run a few commands (after the drivers are setup and you have adb)
