vMo Kyocera Rise and Boost Kyocera Hydro are both locked on the carrier. I can edit MSID, MSN, MDN, etc myself but it doesn't matter because another carrier can't activate it...unless I can change the MSL, which I bet is impossible. Might hafta google dat shet.

It depends on the carriers too. Like Verizon phones can be flashed to cricket w/ a little hax0ry but Verizon won't activate anything that is non-VZW so you can't flash a cricket phone in the other direction even though it's technically possible.

Yeah .5"-1" can be a huge difference

Plus you are on ICS now. 4.0+ is a whole new beast compared to GB.

Seems like a decent upgrade all around with the added bonus of one being skeet proof.

I helped MIL setup a Sprint LG. Some sort of low end Oprimus or something. I was surprised at the lack of bloat. It had a couple apps but nothing major. VZW loads theirs with bloat.

Before that I had a vajeen morbal LG Rumor2 slide candybar dumbphone and they used every trick they could think of to try to make you buy their content for it -- including making it impossible to hack ringtones or buy from anyone other than vargan mabel yet the phone comes with only 3 which are the absolutely most horrendous ringtones ever. It's too bad, for a dumbphone that one is pretty great. I keep revisiting it to see if I can do something aboot it since now I run it on RingPlus.

Back in the day I'd hax my own ringtones onto my phones using BitPim. For a while you could easily download and install games that others had pulled from their phones. They fixed the game thing eventually with a new version of BREW but the ringtone thing was still possible. I guess they've blocked that by now as well. Fgts.

I found one procedure that requires your MSL. Not sure if procedure is wrong or if MSL is wrong. RingPlus reports your MSL to you once you register the phone. I really like RingPlus, I think they really want every haxx0r to get around limits and shit.

No, it's $0/mo for 300 minutes/75 texts/10MB data...if you manage to get in during the short enrollment period when everybody is DDoSing their server. They offer the same plan for $6/mo if you don't. With data working I can see myself paying for additional data, but it'll still be way cheaper than the $25/mo v-mo plan I had.

Interested in that $13/mo allthethings for data though.

I bought a few of those $10 Kyocera Hydros so I could give some as gifts to use as tablets. One is for my 2 1/2 year old nephew and my sister (not tech-helpless but no geek, has a dumbphone that must be at least a decade old), the other is for my parents (tech-helpless with bad eyesight and lame fine motor control). We're having our Crimmus get-together on Sunday.

For my nephew and sister, they're also getting a real, decent tablet and I figured this would let them have a secondary that can handle the kid getting it wet, easily carried in sister's purse to hand to nephew when they're out somewhere, etc.

I'm going to try to preload these with apps and such so they can enjoy them immediately after opening. Any suggestions?

Set plain black wallpaper for parents, colorful wallpaper for nephew/sister.

This fackin RazrM is being le gay.

Won't boot up on it's own... unless you do the recovery steps to bring up menu for Normal/Recovery, etc... Then boots and operates fine.
Always stops in Quickboot Flash mode and says phone is Locked if above steps are not performed. Can't flash anything to it via RSD.. always fails.

I vaguely remember only certain versions of RSD working with my DX and I think it changed when the Android versions increased. So you could try a newer version of RSD if you can find it. :chin:

As a company they are nice, I mean they have designed some bamf anti haxory stuff. Their hardware is pretty damned solid too. If I was to stay stock forever then Moto would definitely be on my list but since we like flashing roms and whatnot idk if want.

yea i miss flashing stuff sometimes. but the stock moto rom is pretty nice. i had to retrain myself on flashing when i got my nexus 7. i tried omni rom over the weekend but didnt like it. i went back to stock 4.4.2. with gravitybox

I've been liking CM11 but I think it's mostly because they haven't had time to put all their crap in it yet. It has the stuff I need and not much else.

If it ever gives me trouble I'll go back to 4.4.2 + gravitybox. 4.3 + gb was working great for me.

ok well you can try manually flashing each file with fastboot. there should be a moto fastboot in the windows folder of the fxz you downloaded. you will have to look on xda for the correct commands for the droid m. but it should be something like fastboot flash system system.img, etc

idk how it could be screwed up beyond an RSD flash. I thought the only way to brick them that bad was installing a bad bootloader or maybe recovery. Since that thing is locked and stock, the bootloader/recovery should still be in tact.

yea since he is in fastboot he should be able to flash anything with rsd. thats how my maxx was messed up i could get to fastboot and recovery and that was it. once i got the right file for rsd i was good to go.

Then yeah, it's probably what happened to Bayleez Maxx. You just need to get the newest RSD files that probably aren't on that site yet.

Yeah TMo (according to the maps) looks great in the city but the farther you get from the city the worse it gets. We never leave the city so it should be perfect for us.

yea the files i have wont work on that one. you will have to wait until someone posts the fxz files for the ota she tried to take. that should flash no issues. the same thing happened to my maxx. it flashed the new recovery and bootloader and failed and would not let me flash back to anything else.

yep, for every (or most) OTAs that Moto releases, they change the bootloader/recovery so it won't accept old fxz files. So no matter what file you try, none will work until you have the latest one.

Maybe contact Moto like Mike did and they might send it to you?

yea also try looking on xda and other forums to see if anyone posted the update.zip for that ota and you can try sideloading it thru stock recovery with adb.

Ya, I've noticed that too. And the lag between switching songs, stopping or playing on the supplied widgets in a theme is horrible. I go back to see if things have changed......and it still sucks. It's great in other aspects though.

It seems like an APN issue :chin: when I go to APNs it is blank. I try to add one and after I hit save it doesn't show up, it's still blank.

g2x has been having full bars of HSPA+ pretty much everywhere. At work, at home, at nana-in-laws on the other side of town. I talked to my wife as I drove home from work and it didn't drop or get shitty, she used it on her way to nanas house and I talked to her on the way with no issues.

It's looking like TMo is going to work for me :datass: I wish I could try out their LTE, but knowing that there is HSPA+ everywhere I need it is nice.
