I think I may just have to go with the Sony after seeing what the next Nexus tablet looks like. Fucking HTC.

---------- Post added at 03:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:24 PM ----------

The xperia z3 tablet looks baller as fuck.

Which makes it even slimmer than an ipad air, by a decent bit.

What's wrong with how the N9 looks? I think it looks just fine?

Honestly though, I'm not sure about that ratio. I held my coworkers iPad mini and it feels too wide. I love the size of my N7. The bigger screen is probably nice on an N9 but idk if I want it to be that wide. :/

sony degrades picture quality on their phones when you unlock the bootloader.

http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/10/02/unlocking-the-bootloader-on-sonys-xperia-z3-and-z3-compact-causes-poor-low-light-camera-performance-thanks-to-drm/

:gayyy:

According to the FCC filings it won't support Sprint's bands. Unless Tmobile has some crazy deals next month to make me switch. Which is still in my head....even though Tmobile and ATT and Verizon do not have LTE or any good coverage at my house. Sprint is the only one.

Since Motorola and Sprint both came out stating they will not support the Moto X 2014 and the new Nexus 6 is a Motorola. Sprint just a few weeks ago put the Nexus 5 on the EOL (End of Life) aka End of Sale.

Not sure what the future is to hold...not looking good.

Yesss... come to the dark side and get a wifi calling hotspot thing for your house. :jester:

Yeah I'm not so sure on the extra width either, I think the N7 is perfect and also the Sony or Shield Tablet.

The larger screen is probably great and lately HTC has been making nice hardware from everything I've heard. If its really thin/light, that might make up for the width. It will probably be nice either way but I just really like the size of this N7.

PA is super stable and doesn't include all the shenanigans that it used to. It does have the nav/status bars that automatically change color depending on the content. Its not even per-app, it just samples what is above/below and changes to that color. Works great.

Nice.

Ended up picking up the G3 this weekend. With Sprint for another 2 years...so oh well.

At first I didn't care much for the screen but the more I use it I enjoy it a lot.

I don't mind the LG skin actually.

Still fresh out of the box minus the wallpaper. The icons gotz to go asap they fugly

It does seem to capture lint and dust like crazy.

nice! I love my G2, the G3's huge screen looks sexy. Check out G3 Tweakbox (Xposed module) if you end up sticking with stock. I ran a G3 port and it was great so I bought Tweakbox. Didn't have any issues. I'll probably end up back on stock at some point since I can't help flashing stuff even when I have a completely stable rom :pow: and I'll probably go back to a G3 port when I do.

---------- Post added at 07:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:30 AM ----------

oh and I told you LG's skin wasn't bad! It's nowhere near as ugly and annoying as Samsung's. No My Magazine shit getting in your way, no blue/green theme everywhere, etc.

It's fairly light and it performs really well. There are some bloaty features thrown in but they're mostly useful and not intrusive.

I'm going to have to wait for reviews, sounds like it will be decent but I just think it will be too big for my taste after having a 7".

Might go with the Sony.

---------- Post added at 05:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:28 AM ----------

You notice how the ram on the Nexus 9 is only 2gb and the Sony Xperia Z3 is 3gb? The Sony also has an SD slot that the nexus does not. Think that ram difference and the SD slot for more storage sold me on the Sony.

Although that 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 2.3 GHz would be nice.

Snapdragon 2.5 GHz Quad-core shouldn't be a slouch in the Sony though.

Hell I don't really know as much about tablets though so it's hard to decide.

I believe what this stranger is trying to say is that he has a Pioneer AppRadio 3 installed in his vehicle. He is using a utility called "ARUnchained" which allows you to mirror your phone or other Android device onto the Pioneer's screen so that you can control it while driving and whatnot. The Android device pictured above has been purchased and permanently connected to the setup I just described. So he now has an Android device permanently installed in the truck that can be controlled by the touchscreen on his Pioneer stereo.

Still may be Dec. before it hits US Carriers.

Catch 22 for me....going to be a bit before the stock G3 on 5.0 is rooted and bootloader unlocked. I won't put myself into that position to take the OTA or side load and be locked down.

Bump! is supposed to be released today so current 4.4.4 AOSP builds can be Bumped and stock custom G3 roms can be flashed.

On a lot of G2 threads I see people mention "loki" like "It has been lokified." I think it's something very similar to Bump. Technically my bootloader is still locked but I can still flash allthethings because of a lokified recovery or whatever. Idk the details.

---------- Post added at 11:59 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:58 AM ----------

Bump faq:

How is Bump different from Loki?
Bump works on LG devices that have Loki patched. There is no need to downgrade your firmware to use Loki anymore.

:chin:

---------- Post added at 12:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:59 AM ----------

The only part of Bump that sounds kinda :blah: is that you have to flash via ADB. I wonder if that makes any parts of TWRP unusable.

M.B Co
11-10-2014, 08:26 PM
Using this adb method TWRP works normal as if you flashed the recovery image file. Using adb isn't bad, went quick and easy.

Bump also is needed to flash anything that doesn't have the stock kernel or it won't boot. Or....you can fastboot. This is a method to get around it.

So any future AOSP or other rom without a LG stock kernel will need to be "Bumped"

stonehenge
11-10-2014, 08:41 PM
So if it uses a stock kernel you can flash it with TWRP (which was Bump'd) but if it's non-stock kernel then you need to use ADB to flash it (because it had to be Bump'd)?

M.B Co
11-10-2014, 08:55 PM
Somewhat, If it's stock kernel it doesn't need to be bumped. Just flash via recovery. If it's not a stock kernel said rom will need to be bumped.

I believe that is correct.....

From what I've read you can use TWRP just fine without doing the bump method. Their terminology is hard to understand sometimes in the threads as they say it multiple times about different things.

I know that feel from living with my parents, except it wasn't even far enough into the sticks to get advantages from (quietness, lots of property, etc).

They're <1mi from the city limits with a house right behind them and lots of others up and down a really short road. Apparently there aren't enough houses for the cable company to care about so they never ran cable to the area. They're also too far or their lines are too old to get DSL. I decided to start fresh tho. So far don't see any issues, it's downloading a few app updates from the play store right now.

I need to flash TWRP and look into rooting it later. It will probably just require a different boot.img to be flashed and then SuperSU to be flashed with TWRP.

- Installed the beta of TitaniumBackup (http://t.co/HLh1lfaXTa).

It looks like root is working since I was able to grant TitaniumBackup access and it didn't yell at me when I opened the app. But I haven't tried actually doing anything with it yet. Root Checker app says I'm rooted too. FIDIL

Double tap to wake is working too. Mmm.

I found the fix. Run this in a terminal window or via adb:

then grant the SuperSU request, then run:

and done:

I had a similar issue on the second preview when I tried it, except it wasn't only the TWRP folder. The whole sdcard directory was screwy. I couldn't download anything because it would say no sdcard was present. Ran the same command I just posted and it fixed it. Some sort of weird permission or selinux change the L made.

All - needing some help for GN2. I am looking for a ROM that has audio over USB. So far I have heard CM11 does, but not sure about anything else.

The GN2 is currently running 4.1.2 on Jellybeans Build 22 with a baseband version of I605VRAMC3.

Yeah, the Note 2 is rooted, running TWRP 2.5.0.0

As you can tell, I have been out of the ROMming game for android...so just looking for something that will work with USB audio. I have been happy with Jellybeans build 22, so pretty much left it all alone.

Galaxy Note 2 -> USB Cable -> Fiio E18 Amp/Dac -> Headphones

If using the 3.5mm audio port of phone will only use the amp part of Fiio E18.

If using USB port/cable, both the amp/dac get used.

Have you ever used this to flash ODIN files for samsungs? Note: I am using a Macbook Pro not windows. - https://builds.casual-dev.com/jodin3/

According to this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1891086), the Note II supports audio via USB natively and supports a shit ton of dacs. Maybe you should try a stock-based ROM.

Finally CM11 4.4.4 is out for my phone. Devs have been having crazy trouble with Sprints G3 kernel for some reason.

Crazy how Verizon has more roms/development than the Sprint variant.

VZW has more people using it I imagine.

The G2 L ROM was a shitfest. :roflmao: I guess they just took a Nexus 5 ROM and were trying to get it to boot on the G2. It would only work on the D802 (international) and some things were screwy. People were flashing it on other models and requiring a full factory flash using LG's tools. Devs were in there arguing because the ROM was dangerous if flashed incorrectly and that the dudes posting the ROM weren't legit devs, etc, etc. :insane:

I just

No fc's for me, runs sooooo smooth. Wfi, LTE/Data works great, switches on/off fast, gps...kinda works, sms,mms works. All the big things work for me anyway.

What doesn't work for this build

nfc (don't use)
wireless charging (don't use)
bluetooth (don't use)

USB charging was broken until I turned off and plugged in then rebooted. Works now.

I'll give it a few days to determine battery life. Fixes are in the works so I'll just dirty flash updates as they come in.
