The Eris I had was a POS, TBolts are le suck, MBP's Inc had fucked hardware repeatedly, and plus they always put shit batteries in them. Oh and Sense plz go.

At this point, Sammy is looking like my favorite. Besides Gary, I've heard good things about galaxy S, SII, GNex, etc and so far my wifes Stratosphere has been great.

If Moto ever releases a vanilla unlocked phone then I'll skeet myself and try to acquire it but I don't really expect that any time soon and I'm done with this locked bootloader shit, regardless of how nice their hardware is.

I put le nexus up for trade, looking for a Charge straight up or maybe no more than $50 cash included. It's finally getting AOSP since Samsung stopped being fgts and released the needed kernel source files. Has a functional CM9 build minus LTE but it should be fixed soon.

It's still fairly popular. Gotta remember Verizon exchanged God knows how many Fascinates for the Charge over the missed call debacle, and not everyone has $700 to spend on a phone if they're months away from an upgrade. The main holdup all along has been kernel source, but that's no longer an issue.

So a friend has a DX. He rooted it last night. Now his market won't work. He's also new to this so he doesn't have a very clear idea of what exactly he did. He does know he's running GB.

I looked at it and when you try to download an app, it just hangs and says "Download paused. Waiting for Wi-Fi.".

Any ideas? Do you need me to get info off the phone? Just the build number and kernel info?

Actually, have him check the Battery/Data saver settings. Moto has all kinds of shit you can turn on to save data/battery including waiting for wifi to download things.

Check market settings also because I don't remember where the setting is.

As for getting other stuff on the TV, the DX is not capable of mirroring it's screen over to HDMI like some devices are. Either the app has to support it (gallery and whatnot) or you can get something called RealHDMI that sends your screens image to the HDMI instead. Which is weird because your screen freezes. So you have to touch the phone and look at the TV. Pretty weird. FTS.




As far as centered clock, I think I figured out the right way to edit status_bar.xml but no matter what I try, I can't get fgt SystemUI.apk to compile without errors. POS.

I think that's your best bet to get it to feel stock but be a bit better than fully stock. Plus it will still be rooted in case you decide to play with CM or something again.

Also, post #2 in This Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328) has a few USCC Desire roms you can try also if you feel like it.

If you really want to do it today, you can copy the URLs of those links above, search for them in Google, then view the Cached version of the threads to get the files and whatnot.

Also, I think someone said that after your 4g is deactivated for a certain amount of time (dont remember how long), the SIM dies and you need to go to vzw to get a new one when you want to use a 4G phone again.

Not sure why you've had sonmich trouble. A stock fassy giving you trouble maybe but stock DXs are pretty damned reliable. The only reason I can think of is because you got refurbs which they probably never fixed. They turned it on, made a call, it worked, sell it.

Found this:

1. Attempt to activate, and end call 3-4 seconds into it. On the second attempt, it came up asking if I want to skip this step.
2. Enjoy!

and if that doesn't work, you could try this but do not lose those numbers that you change to 000:

I finally figured out how to bypass the activation screen when no phone service is available.

1. Select emergency call and dial ##778.
2. Select edit and enter service password 000000.
3. Select NAM Settings.
4. Change Mobile Directory number to 0000000000 (Ten digits).
5. Change MIN1 to 0000000 (Seven digits).
6. Change Mobile Country Code to 000 (Three digits).
7. As you back out "Commit the Change".
8. The phone will auto reboot in 10 seconds.

Worked like a champ!

I wrote down the original numbers so I can restore its configuration later.

Surprised you need drivers to get the mass storage to work, that usually works no problem. It's usually drivers for ADB and shit that give me trouble.

Go into device manager while the phone is connected, find it, uninstall it, unplug phone. Then install the drivers if you have them (if not, find them somewhere on XDA or RW). Then after they are installed, plug the phone back in. HOPEFULLY it will find the right driver then.

Pretty much ALL of the fascinate MIUI stuff was lost when megaupload went down. :( I have a copy of the ported extended settings mod from like October that I'm trying to get working with the newer builds. We shall see.
