The shell of the phone and the keyboard should all be one color (white, black, blue, idgaf) and then it should have some small accents in another color. So all pearl white if that is what they want with black or silver or red or idgaf color buttons/grilles/lines/etc

The 1.2ghz would be the only thing on that phone I'd want. It be ugly and has the same old camera. I guess they had to do something to make someone want the D2 over the X. Some still wanted it for the KB but I don't think it has sold as well as the X has. The faster processor and globalness might help it out.

That is a 2.7ghz sempron (low end processor) and the one you have for free is a 3ghz P4. If that is all you do, I'd use the HP. Worst case, it takes a shit after a while and you go buy a tower but for now, why not use what you already have? If it seems slow, put some more ram in it and you should be set.

I will have to look into how to reformat it and what not. Never messed with computers too much. What good Linux OS's or whatever are out there? All I really know of is Ubuntu.

Well I like Ubuntu because it is super easy to install, even Chad could do it. There is also Linux Mint, which is what I am using at home. It is essentially Ubuntu but it has more things bundled with it like video codecs, extra drivers, some included programs like GIMP (photoshop replacement), Firefox, Thunderbird, etc. It doesn't include anything that runs constantly or anything so it isn't really "Bloat", especially because most of it is useful stuff.

So I recommend Linux Mint :imo

You don't even have to look into how to format it. When you boot to the Mint dvd, it will ask you if you want to install along side the current windows install or if you want to wipe the whole drive. Just select to wipe the whole thing, click next a few times, choose your timezone and shit, and after some install time you are done. It srsly is REALLY easy.

Cez, to flash a zip, put the zip on your sdcard, go into Rom Manager and tell it to reboot into recovery. Once in recovery, make a backup first: "Backup and Restore" > "Backup". When its done, press power until you are back at the main recovery screen, go to "install zip from sdcard", then "choose zip from sdcard" and choose the zip file and let it do its business imo.

I got in the habit of doing it manually because it ALWAYS works. I would occasionally run into issues with it not rebooting into CW correctly or it would boot into it and not be successful at installing, etc. Not always but manual always works unless it is corrupt or something.

set it as you default home (should have asked you when you hit the home button) then go to settings/preferences/appearance/dock back ground and choose cutom then select the dock that was in the zip. for the apps in the dock back long press them and its pretty self explanatory

part of the issue is that both tranquility and flyx are not COMPLETE roms, they just add/remove to/from the existing rom. So putting one over the other will end up with different results :fp:

As you may or may not know, LauncherPro is based on the stock Android 2.0 Launcher. All the base code comes from it, and all of LauncherPro’s features were added on top of it.

While that has worked really well, the problem is that the 2.0 stock Launcher wasn’t coded to have 7 homescreens, or a lot of the features that exist today in LauncherPro. That means that many features in LauncherPro are a bit hacky code-wise. The stock Launcher’s code isn’t very flexible either, so in order to implement some of the features I want to add to LauncherPro, some major changes need to be made to the code.

Instead of keeping on adding stuff on top of the stock Launcher, I’ve decided to do something more radical. A few days ago, I started rewriting LauncherPro from scratch. That is, starting with a totally blank canvas, and building it with LauncherPro’s feature set (and other features in my todo list) in mind.

What does this mean for you?

Well, the final outcome of this decision should be, in a nutshell:

* Improved speed
* Reduced memory usage, which means fewer force-closes and possibly allow us to have up to 9 homescreens
* Increased flexibility. I’m coding everything to make it as flexible as possible, which will allow LauncherPro to better adapt to new device form factors, such as tablets.
* Cleaner code that I’ll know inside and out. That means that adding new features can be implemented faster since I’ll know every single line of code in LauncherPro.
* Rewriting the app will give me the opportunity to fix the little bugs that haven’t been addressed yet, and to improve parts of the code that could use some improvement.

The current LauncherPro will continue to get updates while I work on the new code, albeit perhaps a bit less frequently. Rewriting the entire app from scratch is a huge undertaking, but it will definitely be worth it in the end.

Edit: A few people have asked about how will this affect LauncherPro Plus users. Rest assured, you won’t have to pay again to get the Plus features. The new rewritten LauncherPro will simply replace the current one.


As a side note, right now I’m working on an update for the current LauncherPro, which will bring a new feature for Plus users, some bugfixes, and more. It should be out in the next couple of days.
