TPU is harder than silicon, not sticky like silicon, holds its shape unlike silicon, yet is softer than hard cases to cushion drops and whatnot. Oh and Mike said it fit wine w/ an extended cover.

I purge my messages 2-3 times a month anyway. I don't keep things like that unless I need to... it's evidence.

Yeah... That's why I never really checked into other shit. I'm a OEM kind of guy. I like subtle changes, not too much bling. Pretty much the GMFS treatment, lowered, and a nice set of wheels. But on a Samsung. Which is about to get launched out the window in a minute. I can't get the damn USB cord to work now all of a sudden.

Answer me this... The way the Sammy charger is, it's a USB cord (std. one end, micro other) that plugs into the "brick" that plugs into the wall. Well, for the last week, it's been randomly bringing up "USB Connected" notifications in the bar when I plug it in at night to charge it.

Now, every time I plug it into the computer, it says Windows doesn't recognize it, and when I can get it to and try to access it, Windows Explorer just locks up.

Sound like a bad cord to you? Or maybe some software issues? I'm thinking I'm going to kill it and re-flash some shit to see if it gets any better.

well since you have a legit recovery you could always backup, flash a new rom, and then test it and restore your backup if it doesn't fix anything

I've got a few USB 2.0 to Micro cables. The strange thing is, the only one that has ever worked right was the stock one. No idea why. Now it's not even working right.

I knew I should have just went to bed. But official FroYo just dropped yesterday so now there's all kinds of new modems, kernels, and roms dropping. I couldn't resist. Now I'm all sitting here like... :eek2: Looks like nandroid/new rom it is.

out of everything i tried before GB i liked ApeX best. But now I'm on the Gingerbread leak and it is great. It's fast, good batter life, stable, etc. It isn't a ROM though, it's a stock leak.

I haven't tried the most recent Rubix/Liberty but the last time I did try them, I had a few small issues. Also, I think ApeX and Liberty devs are working on GB releases of their roms.

I'd go with stock GB for now. GB seems to run a lot nicer than Froyo roms. I'm waiting on ApeX GB to come out. I think there is a version of Liberty GB floating around but it isn't a final release.

It is an apk you install and it hijacks the boot process to allow a custom recovery. It isn't a true recovery that replaces the stock one though so you can't boot straight to it by holding buttons or anything. If you're on GB, you have to use D2 Bootstrap for some reason. Anything before GB you can use DX bootstrap. It is free if you find it online somewhere but to get it from the market you gotta pay.

A true recovery replaces the stock one and can be accessed by holding physical buttons during boot. The bootstrap method hijacks the boot process shortly after it starts and sends you to clockwork.

Getting the bootstrapper from somewhere other than the market isn't :sneaky: because the developer offers it free on his website.

The process is a little off. You should do this:

flash sbf to ota official motorola release
root w/ z4root
install DX bootstrapper, run it and choose "bootstrap recovery"
put rom on your sd card
run DX bootstrapper and choose "reboot recovery"
backup
clear data/cache
install rom zip

Then depending on the rom, you may have to install bootstrap again, most roms come with it though.

Also, keep in mind that GB can ONLY be flashed over stock .340, not over a rom or other version of stock. Also, to go from GB to a different rom, you'll have to sbf.

As far as ROMs go, I am going to try Liberty v2.0.1. If that does random reboots, etc, I will go to gB in understanding I will have to SBF to go there, especially coming from Liberty. Which would be as follows Liberty ---> SBF flash .340 ---> gB

DX shipped today, so its looking an arrival date of 4/26...so I will get started on all of this on 4/27 (after class) or 4/28 (during the day) depending on what is going on. I do know that weekend will constitute studying for finals, as I have to take them all early due to a safety conference on regular finals week. It will get done before 5/4 or 5/5 as I want to see how long the battery will last with bluetooth'd to my DDX514 and hands-free device.

Yeah the 1-click root works. I think when I did it, it seemed like it wasn't working so I ran it again and then it rebooted itself and the next time I ran it, I got the Superuser pop up :cheeky:

it won't work on GB tho, if you flash non-rooted GB then you have to use a new root tool. Don't remember what it's called. Gingersnap or something.

The bootstrap is a normal apk, you don't install it with rom manager, you just install it like any other app.

Yeah you only need DX bootstrap until you start using GB, then you'll need D2.

First go into settings > applications and enable Unknown Sources. Then any time after that, you just open the .apk with a file manager. Most roms and even stock Moto roms come with a file manager now. Stock Moto roms have the "Files" app and it's pretty useful. Besides that you can use Root Explorer, Linda File Manager, or Astro.

My advice to anyone looking for a Fascinate ROM.... Evil Fascination 3.3.1 is pure secks. Based on Adrynalyn's debloated/deodexed official 2.2 release, but taken a step further. I flashed that, the EC01 modem (which rumors are that it's the same as ED01), and a non-voodoo undervolted kernel. Seeing battery times of 8 hours of ACTUAL use. I was on the phone for 2.5 hours the other day and only dropped ~20%. Pretty impressive imo.

I DL'd it yesterday for my Fascinate. It seems better but the phone seems to have more lag going between apps and such now when I hit the button. The pause when I hit the Applications button on the home screen and the time it takes now is pretty annoying.

You're NOT supposed to cut them out, they keep dirt from getting in the buttons and whatnot. However, the case with the small hole (what is in your picture) was harder to press the buttons. To fix it, I put a layer or two of scotch tape on the inside of the case behind the buttons. Made them WAY easier to press and you couldn't tell since the tape is fairly clear.

now it may get different here somewhere since Sammy, Moto, HTC, etc like to change shit around. But there should be an "All" tab at the top hopefully. If not, try pressing menu and choose All or Filter All. Something along those lines.

WHen you have the full list of apps, locate TWLauncher (may be called Home, Launcher, TouchWiz Launcher, etc) and tap it. On this next screen there should be a "Clear data" button somewhere. Tap that and it will clean up all the data your launcher has saved. You'll lose your homescreen setup most likely but hopefully it will fix your issue.

first thing would be to try and get into clockwork and restore a backup, but since it isn't a full recovery, that can be tricky. Here are some ways you can try:

If you srsly can't get to it, try going to the stock recovery and wiping data. To get to stock recovery, you turn the phone off, hold the home button down as you turn on the phone. When the /!\ appears, you can let go of home. Press the search button to get the recovery menu. Navigate with volume keys, select with camera (or i think you select with power on the newer stock recovery).

If you can't get to either recovery or wiping/restoring from said recoveries doesn't fix your issue, then all you can do is SBF. An SBF will almost always fix your issue. If it doesn't then you have a srs brick. I haven't had that happen and you shouldn't unless you try to modify things on your own that shouldn't be modified :jester:

Only 2 have similar domains (@murraystate.edu) and 1 (@gmail.com), BUT....on the OG D1 when inputting into email setup they all had the same domains/ports/etc....so when an email came in it would come up in one or up to all 3 email boxes.

Say an email came in for gmail...it would come in the work account and school account...

Ohhh you're used to that from le sammy launcher.. LP doesn't have that. ADW does if you want to give it a try. You can have both installed at the same time if you want to just test drive them.

They aren't really needed no matter what, people just like them. CM has it's own built in now but it doesn't let you set profiles.

Set it to stock speed and get rid of SetCPU for now. Run it like that and see what kinda life you get during normal use. Undervolting, underclocking, etc can cause FCs and shit a lot of times. I am happy with my battery life with the processor stock. Also, after installing a rom, run Battery Calibration (free in the market). You charge the phone to 100%, click the button in the app, then unplug it and use the phone til it dies. It made my battery last a lot longer.
