So i have noticed now after a few days of using this phone the reception/sound is not what I had expected. The calls have a tingy/echoey sound to them and can be broken up at times however I notice this more talking with my wife who has same phone but not with others as they say I sound crystal clear and better than I did with my BB :shrug: Thinking of going into VZw and talking to them about it, overall i love the phone for texting/web/apps but making calls on it its just not holding up to expectations I had.

Gary, it could also be the Samsung's. My Droid1 and X both had excellent reception and call quality. :shrug: But I haven't noticed any other complains about the Sammys so maybe it is just that phone, maybe they'll replace it.

TAMPA - Cellular giant Verizon Wireless will turn on its faster "4G" data service on Sunday putting Tampa at the front of the line for Verizon's national rollout.

Thus Verizon joins AT&T, Sprint and newcomer Clear Corp. in launching faster service in the Tampa Bay rea. Each carrier tends to dispute which 4G service is fastest, but some can be roughly 10 times faster than current wireless links, if not more.

At those speeds, users can live-stream video, download a movie in a few minutes, and enable different uses like live-streaming health gadgets used by emergency crews.

As for technical specifications, Verizon estimates their "real world" network use will rival many home broadband connections, with 5 to 12 megabits per second download, and 2 to 5 megabits upload.

The Verizon service will be "tiered" at different prices, starting at $50 per month for 5 gigabytes of data, $80 for 10 gigabytes per month, and $10 for each gigabyte extra. For now, there are two 4G modems for mobile PCs, and two phones coming soon, the LG VL600 and the Pantech UML290.

For comparison, The Godfather movie on iTunes is 1.7 gigabytes.

Clear and Sprint are partners in their 4G rollouts, and launched service in Tampa Bay on November 1. Clear just last month opened a retail outlet in International Plaza mall. AT&T is deploying its own 4G system and expects national availability by January.

You just got double? I got like 5-6 for random birthdays from FB. I think the only way to clear it is to remove the account and then add it again then sync. Either that, or that's what caused it.

BB has push because everything goes through their servers. That's why Android can load pages and data faster, it is more direct. If I logged into our work server from my BB, it said I was coming from Canada. RIM is based in Canada.

I found one issue. Exchange is screwy since it has blur calendar/contacts but AOSP email. Tries putting the blur email apks back and it don't work. Found this:

I liked crunch SMS on the BB, you could change all the colors of the bubbles. Dont know if its available for this though, have not looked yet.

If you just want to hide icons, you can use LauncherPro. To remove the actual apps you need to root and delete files.

I've had it about a month and a half now. It's actually a pretty powerful phone with some tweaking. But I guess that's any phone these days.

The only way to do that is root. It's pretty easy to do, only took me about 30 minutes including installing the drivers on my computer which was a little slow.

There's a thread on Android Central that walks you through step by step. After that then you can move all the useless crap to the SD card.

As far as the echo, it's actually a known problem on this phone. Mine does it a little but I've kind of gotten used to it. Supposedly they're going to address it in the Froyo update, but who knows when that's even being released.

You can do that or use root explorer to go into the zip and extract the apk. You just have to set the permissions correctly so long press another app in system to see what the permissions are and set them to that.

Just grab the one from Rumm Rx if you need it in a hurry and you can grab the themed one later.

The echo is just the sidetone (being able to hear yourself in the ear speaker so you don't yell) being set too high. Some have found the hidden menus and been able to set it to a different value, but not noticed a difference.

Personally, I've gotten to the point where I don't even notice it anymore, and actually I do find that I talk quieter on this phone than I did on my BB because I can hear myself if I talk louder. It's weird, but so is the human mind. :roflshrug:

Other than that, there's a bit of nitpicking that I could do about this phone, but I've played with a DX (my friend ended up getting one), and I wasn't a fan at all. Maybe because I'm used to mine. I love this phone more than any I've previously owned.

And I'm going to cast a vote for ADW launcher too. I tried Launcher Pro... I didn't really like the way it felt compared to ADW. And the stock TouchWiz really isn't horrible at all, in fact I'd have no problems using that if I had no other choice. I used that for a long time before I tried out ADW.

My X is also my favorite phone to date. My BBs and dumbphones don't even count. :jester: the Eris was cool but weak and buggy. My D1 will always hold a place in my heart, it was my first Android phone and the reason why all these companies are making so many Android phones :pepper:

It's funny because I don't like the "feel" of ADW :roflmao: I could also use the stock Blur launcher if I HAD to but I definitely prefer LP. More options, smoother screen/appdrawer scrolling, etc.

To set the theme defaults go to CM settings and where you change the clock color, ticker color and all that it should there should be an option to import an xml or some shit.

If you're on the stock Samsung home app then either go through the market like you said or go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and find it in there.

If you have ADW or LauncherPro then you can just long-press the app icon, hold it over the trash for a few seconds and then drop it to uninstall.
