Root success. Launcher replaced. Link2SD doing its thang, plenty of space now. Lock screen ads removed. OTA updates disabled.

Up next: Sleuthing around to find where the default wallpapers are to change them so the lock screen gets my choice of wallpaper instead of the defaults (which, admittedly, are pretty nice).

Then who knows what else!

Definitely different compared to my S5. The device seems to have a more premium feeling due to construction and feels nicer in hand.

The size definitely makes S5 seem like a toy. Now, if I keep it thats not known at present time. I like the size of S5, so going to 6P size is gonna be interesting.

I spent this afternoon rooting it via adb/fastboot and put a intelliarmor tempered glass screen on it. I have a spigen rough armor on it now, and a diztronic will be here tomorrow. Will sell or return whichever i don't like.

hate slapping on screen protectors

I usually do well with screen protectors, but the other day I decided to replace the one on the iPad and it came out awful. I replaced it twice more and it was still awful. Gonna cut one smaller so it only covers the business area, not all the way out to the edge of the borders, not lining up holes with the button and camera, so that I can put less effort into those perfections...

ill see how long it lasts coming in and out of my pocket. but yes, do need better method to apply. i applied it like 3 times and each time it came down crooked. then i saw it come down nicely and said fidil and put it on. then when i was taking out the bubbles i saw the protector caught a little of the bottom border :ffuuu:

The Tempered glass screen protectors can be really handy if you put them on correctly. A couple methods I found out about.

Use tape to act like hinge when putting on screen protector.
Do it in the bathroom with the shower running hot water; the hot water creates steam which makes dust/debris go to floor.
Use scotch tape or similar to remove fine particles before fulling put on screen protector.

I haven't bothered much with flashing and recoveries because there hasn't been much for my devices, but there's a thriving community working on the Fire and I've just realized that there's quite a bit for my LG Realm LS620 too. I've got spare LS620s now (wife and I both cracked screens and one xmas gift for her is a donor phone; piece it back together with cracked screen and I can experiment with shit; also bought another donor for mine) so I'm probably gonna try TWRP and such on one.

Got a water resistant suction cup backed shower bruetoofs speaker/mic/buttons doohickey and a keychain bruetoofs locator whatsit.

Speaker sounds good (Sound quality acceptable and volume goes very loud) and controls work well. Might stick it to car window while driving, and prolly gonna use it while working on car in addition to shower use.

Locator whatsit is cool, it can ring my phone and my phone can make it beep so if I find one I'll find the other. Also it can pair with something like 8 devices.

While getting its app I found out there are apps that can use Bluetooth to locate other Bluetooth devices not made specifically for that purpose (so use it to find one phone/tablet/etc using another).

I mainly use my Chromecast to stream movies I have have saved on my phone with localcast. I watch YouTube and occasionally listen to Google music.it has a labs feature that displays a fireplace on the TV while is plays the music.

Got a nice USB OTG hub with 3 USB ports and some card readers. Didn't have my borescope handy but my Fire worked with a MicroSD card in it. Way cool. I wonder if there's a way I can use it to pull shit off the iPad...is there any kind of iTunes app for Android? :jester:

Sorry if this has been discussed before but what messaging apps do you guys use? Currently have the LG G3. Hate the stock app for group messaging. Tried Textra and people weren't getting pics or texts that I sent. Switched to chompsms a couple weeks ago and I've missed a ton of texts from people. Trying google messenger now. Don't like that it's not very customizable. I'll see how else it works with everything else.

I have a V10 (pretty much the same stock sms app that you have) and I've been using Textra lately. Pics/texts seem to be working fine for me, you may need to play with your APN settings. Before that I used Messenger which was nice but I didn't like how quick replies worked (at least I think that's why I moved to Textra, I forget).

I use Hangouts more than I do normal texting though, I should just merge them again. I wish Hangouts had quick replies.

On a 6P here and use Hangouts with the merge option for SMS/MMS/Hangouts messages.

I've been using Chrooma keyboard. It's mostly the stock Google keyboard but it changes colors with the app you're in and has a few other lightweight features built in. Not bloated like Swiftkey and whatnot.

Oh and if you don't mind answering quick random surveys every now and then, install Google Opinion Rewards. It will ask you questions about stores you've gone to and other various stuff and then give you credit to the Play Store to get paid apps. Most of them give you $0.25 or so but it adds up quick and most apps are $1-2 anyway.

I've been digging through everything, but everything I have that has a paid version isn't on Amazon. I bought the Busybox donation. I replaced my Google Play version of Pandora with Amazon's then used in-app purchasing to buy a few single-day passes (99 coins each). Slacker and Spotify don't seem to support IAP using Amazon's appstore payment system.

Yeah but even if it's unlocked it probably has different radios so he wouldn't get all of the networks on VZW. That's if VZW even lets him activate it (they are asshats when it comes to non-VZW phones being activated on their network so they probably won't).

That is correct. VZW are asshats for their phones. Yes, they are a nice, stable network but comes with costs and dealing with unfriendly customer service.

For my 6P, even though the CDMA/VZW bands were in there, VZW never fully recognizes the device. Still shows as blank screen and such on website. In other news, got my unlimited VZW line down to roughly $30/month.

I'm trying, once again, to get Virgin Mobile smartphones working with data on RingPlus. I'm working with a Virgin Mobile Kyocera Rise C5155. I have the MSL and can get into the ##DATA# menu.

I get the feeling that the missing link here is the "HA Password" or "AAA Password". Does anyone know how to figure those out?

I have a similar Boost Mobile Kyocera Hydro C5170, which is 99% the same phone (with regards to firmware and motherboard) made for Boost, and its data works on RingPlus. Perhaps I can extract the necessary passwords from it?

Someone with VZW can try calling support and saying they have an unlocked Note4 that they plan on activating soon and see what they say. Odds are they will say no. I think the only non-VZW branded phones that they activate are recent Nexus phones and a couple Motorolas.

Those wireless bitches can sometimes be picky. If there's too much thickness between charger/fon then it may not work and it also usually needs to be centered pretty well over the charger.

did get a 3 coil charger cuz read it can be a lil fgt. A guy on forum did it on a 2015, same deal where its inside the lid and said it works good but if fon slides around, itll lose the signal. hope it works same inside this lid....just waiting on the charging thingie for the phone and I can try it out :pepper:
