That's because Roman wasn't doing much when 4.1 dropped and AOKP went to shit. He be back now and everyone has said the quality is definitely back as well.

Can one of you on AOKP take a photosphere and see if it stitches correctly? Mine come out HORRIBLE and are flat, I can't view them as spheres. Mike, which prepaids have you tried so far? Still not sure if I should switch or just suck it up and get an upgrade when the next one comes around and say bye to Nexus phones forever :emo:

dfw cheaper + nexus but scared about shitty networks. AT&T has decent network but their prepaid costs more doesn't it?

---------- Post added at 02:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:32 PM ----------

For my future reference:

$70 unlimited everything (4G) (Tmobile)
$65 unlimited text/call + 1gb 4G data (AT&T)
$60 unlimited everything (4G for first 2gb) (Tmobile)
$50 unlimited everything (4G) (Simple on TMo)
$50 unlimited everything (4G for first 100mb) (Tmobile)
$49 unlimited everything (4G drops to 2G after 4gb) (Solavei on TMo)
$45 unlimited everything (random data throttle levels?) (Straight Talk on ATT or TMo)
$40 unlimited everything (4G for first 250mb) (Simple on TMo)
$30 100 minutes, unlimited text/data (4G for first 5gb) (Tmobile)

:chin: couldn't do the $30 because I use my phone for work. The 100mb of 4G sounds like it would go in no time, even if I try to stick to wifi, but I usually have 4G off anyway so it wouldn't change much. I've heard coworkers complain about TMo a LOT here in town though. :blah: which eliminates most of those plans...

That leaves expensive ATT or Straight Talk ATT. :hmm:

MikeH
02-18-2013, 11:40 PM
Just straight talk and tmo, but tmo had shit data coverage unless you lived on the other side of town. if you dont use more than 2GB of data then st would be the way to go.

stonehenge
02-18-2013, 11:51 PM
I tend to go over 2gb but barely and it's mostly because I forget to turn wifi on. I don't stream anything or watch videos so it must just be me forgetting about wifi.

MikeH
02-19-2013, 12:21 AM

Wan, I'm going with T-Mobile prepaid for right now whenever the nexus shows up. Data coverage beyond EDGE is nonexistent within 100 miles aside from one city but it'll have to do until ATT offers a new prepaid plan. MVNOs go out of business all the time so I just can't risk it like that. I'm moving in late May and will have HSPA42 there, so it'll be worth it in the end.

Alright, Nexus has shipped and I should have it by Friday. The issue now is I've so thoroughly confused myself by reading guides to unlocking that I have no clue in hell what I'm doing. Lol. Reading the instructions for the ToolKit make zero sense to me so that's off the table and plus it may or may not work for 4.2.2.

If I already have the SDK installed, why do I need to install another driver package and "hope" it works with ADB? This shit might as well have been written by a 15 year old. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018179

---------- Post added at 08:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:17 AM ----------

wugs toolkit is the easiest thing to use imo. esp if your not familiar with adb commands.

stonehenge
02-20-2013, 02:35 PM
It seems like people always give links to like 15 different drivers for any phone :rofl2: just try it without drivers first and see if adb picks it up, I bet it will since it's a Nexus and the SDK brings some drivers with it.

Then from adb:

adb reboot bootloader

wait for bugdroid with his chest open screen on your phone

fastboot oem unlock

select Yes on your phone, then go to recovery and do a factory reset. Pretty sure that's it, then put it back into the bootloader, put your recovery file of choice into your platform-tools folder, and flash your recovery:

adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery IMAGENAME.img

That should be it.

---------- Post added at 06:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:33 AM ----------

But yes, like Mike said, Wugfresh's kit is legit. Although I know there was a notice about it not working with 4.2.2 on his webpage, he DID provide instructions for making it work and he may have even updated the toolkit by now.

Flashed Feb 12 and gapps build and phone bootlooped forever. Had to flash, reflash, wipe, reflash, and it finally worked.

Wan, your instructions make sense and that's what I got out of it. It's the BS about drivers that confused me.

I've been on Adam's 4.2.2 build since he tweeted it a few days ago. Besides an FC every now and then on random apps (mostly the Simpsons game rofl) it is great. My photosphere even works now lol

However I did turn on TalkBack just to play around and it made my phone angry. TalkBack kept FCing and would lock up my phone and not let me touch anything. Took forever for me to get back into settings to turn it off.

i havent had any issues with the feb19 build other than the alarm clock fc. which wiping data fixed. also the stock kernel was lacking alot of features so i flashed tiny kernel.

stonehenge
02-20-2013, 02:55 PM
The build I'm running is from Feb 15th: http://goo.im/devs/adamthecashew/aokp_toro

The stock kernel on that one is LeanKernel. So far so good.

Jay, if that build gives you trouble again, try the one I just posted or give Jellybro a shot.

This bit acting craaaaazy,

Some of the statusbar toggles I have activated aren't showing up at all, anywhere. Even unchecked, and rechecked them. Rebooted, etc.

This build does not make me happeh. I think it's time to try something else b/c these last few builds have been kind of sloppy

chevyrado14
02-20-2013, 03:00 PM
i noticed mine was missing the fast charge toggle and it was because the stock kernel didnt support it anymore. i flashed tiny kernel and its all good now. the stock kernel on the feb19 build sucks balls no color control, hardly any oc options nothing.

official CM or Jellybro?

She's been complaining about it lately, can't wait for her upgrade lol

Mostly due to slowness and the voice typing not working for some reason. I haven't spent much time on it, I'm sure I could fix the voice issue.

Okay.
Toggles work, clock works (after it FC'd once I cleared data like mentioned) and now it works. All apps work like they should. The Feb 19 build was only recognizing 91 apps out of the 171 installed, or however many it optimizes in the beginning.

Sounded win until I read this comment:

Just keep in mind that this feature is only available through CM's own modified camera and that it does not (at least on my Galaxy Nexus) support both HDR and Photosphere. If you are using the camera/gallery app (gallerygoogle.apk) from the G-apps you flashed with CM then the feature will not be there. The easiest way to get it is to move or delete gallerygoogle.apk from /system/app before updating CM and after you will see CM's camera/gallery app in it's place (gallery2.apk).

So it's photosphere or HDR but not both? :blahclap:

N4 up and running. Seems to be doing well. This thing is HEAVY. Holy carp. Unlocked it last night in a daze around midnight. Running CM10 now but might try something different later.

Another thing, TMobile service seems to be MUCH better than advertised around here. EDGE isn't bad for loading stuff (bored standing in line at hellMart and such) and something I wasn't expecting, you get roaming on ATT. Can't find it documented anywhere. No native TMO coverage at home but full bars of ATT (phone even says connected to ATT HSPA:10) even though it's roaming. Voice/text work fine just no data. Can't find it advertised anywhere.

Also did a few speed tests in downtown Columbia yesterday. Speeds were around 12-16mbps but the ping times varied from 20ms up to whats attached. There was a USC game going on so that may be why. Pretty happy with it overall. Only a couple of places in rural areas I've had no coverage on T-Mobile or ATT roaming. Edge seems plenty fast for browsing when I'm in those areas too.

but wtf @ speedtest not filling the whole screen?

---------- Post added at 01:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:36 PM ----------

here's mine on LTE. Had 0-1 bars though. The radio on the GNex really isn't all that great. Not bad enough for me to care but almost any other phone I compare to gets better signal (royarz NoteII, coworkers iPhone, etc) even though we are in the same place, both with VZW. :fp:

It fills my whole screen though, isn't the N4 the same resolution and screen size?

Speedtest would never fill the screen for me either. Not sure why.

No clue.

Franco kernel is doing well. Overall I'm happy with everything. T-Mobile goes above and beyond with customer service. They called me to make sure everything was good and if I had any questions.

Since Google disabled gamma adjustments in 4.2.2 the only real way to manually adjust the colors is with a custom kernel. Kinda hate that. One guy is compiling stock kernels with different gamma presets but it's still a work in progress. I thought I'd left all this screen tuning stuff behind with le Fassy.

:okay:

Custom kernels really don't make much if any difference on this device so I'd rather just use the stock one if I can.

stonehenge

i had no issues with my gmail/contact/etc and exchange accounts syncing on the same rom you used, do a clean flash like Mike said and ONLY restore user apps. No texts/call logs/etc at first and no system apps. Just to see how it behaves. Then if it works, you can try restoring anything else you may want, that way you know if that shit causes it or not.

The toggle? Just use and app that toggles it.
