Debugging mode needs to be off for the phone to install its drivers for the first time it connects to the PC. Updating to 2.2 constitutes needing a second "first time" as far as the X is concerned. So, yeah, I fail.

Just got my black TPU case. Other than it showing fingerprints its just as good as the argyle one. The buttons are slightly easier to push also.

ATT to get another Motorola Droid

With a code name as "Kobe" and model number MB520, it seems as if AT&T is getting another Motorola Android powered device soon. The tests are being run on the phone that is said to be running Android 2.1 on it with a UI to the likes of the Droid X. It seems to be making good marks just under the Droid X. A reported 3.5 inch touchscreen with Swype preloaded and a 3 megapixel camera it should make a nice addition to the line up. Stay tuned!

ohhhh i see what you are doing. you don't hold it half way or hold the onscreen button down to focus. you just snap a quick shot. I always hold the button down half way, let it focus, then press it the rest. It beeps there. Fuck focusing. :roflmao:

:roflmao: no foo. You can drag the focus box around the screen to tell it where to focus. Then hold the cam button halfway (or the onscreen down) and it will turn red or green. If red, it didn't focus right, try again, if green, press it the rest of the way (or let go of onscreen) and it will take the shot.

Brah, get Titanium backup. I used it when I wiped my phone and it restored all my apps perfectly, they even update from the market like they should. You run it now and it backs up all your apps and their data/settings to your SD card. Then once you put a new rom on, run it again and tell it to restore and it brings them all back.

I DO NOT recommend that you use it to restore system settings and system apps though. Different roms and versions of android have different settings and it can fuck shit up to restore different ones. But the User Apps/Data works GREAT :imo

Yeah it is a 7" tablet. When a 10" comes out, I may srsly think of getting one. But I wouldn't want it on a carrier. I have my X for quick googling and whatnot, I'd want a tablet for movies, note taking, extensive browsing, etc which would work fine via wifi (or wifi tether :secret:).

I agree. A friend of mine actually found them on eBay somewhere in plain colors and ordered a black one. He said it is just as nice as his smoked argyle one except it shows the fingerprints a lot more. So I won't be getting a solid color but a PLAIN clear color would be nice.
I picked up an all black one on eBay and as mentioned it shows fingerprints but looks a lot better than the argyle. Here is a link. They have a few different colors.

Once you download it, if you haven't installed apks before, it is easy. Put it on your sdcard, open it on your phone with a file manager (Linda File Manager or ASTRO are nice) and it will let you install it.

Then go to your app list and open Universal Androot and here is the hard part: click "Root :-)" and wait a few seconds.

Done. That bitch is rooted.

Well your X should already be flying, they are beasts in general. If you want, you can remove some of the bloat apps that you don't use.

How:

- Install Root Explorer (:secret: (http://www.android-underground.com))
- Go to /system/app to see all the stock apk files
- Rename whatever you want removed (add .bak to the end so Blockbuster.apk.bak for ex)
- That's it, now they won't show up in the drawer and won't run in the background

Some "good to know" shit:

- DO NOT rename anything with blur in the name of the apk.
- DO NOT rename backup assistant.
- Widgets are okay to rename if you'll never use them.
- The "redding" apk is Kindle.
- The "mynet" apk is the VZW Wifi Hotspot.
- Once these are renamed, you CAN NOT do a factory reset, it will bootloop your phone. If you need to do a factory reset, you must put these apps back. This is why we rename, NOT delete.
- If you do happen to do a factory reset or rename something you aren't supposed to, there is still a way to save your ass so don't worry too much. But I wouldn't try anything 5 minutes before your shift at work begins because the fix requires a computer and a little bit of time lol.

ADW lets you setup groups in the drawer now. Its a pretty nice feature because you can hide all the apps you dont use but cant get rid of. You can switch back and forth between the groups too.

Bass, at the top of the Root Explorer window is a button that says "Mount r/w". Once you are in the /system/app folder, hit that to make it writable :shake:

So my texts still sometimes show up in the wrong order even in the stock messanging app :uhoh: but not often.

I also get reboots/freezes/screwiness sometimes while listening to music. It isn't every time though so I'm not sure what is causing it.

Otherwise 2.2 ftw so far.

So when I deodexed Im assuming it replaced the apps that I renamed but none of them installed

I think deodexing takes all .apk files and deodexes them. Since those were renamed they didn't get deodexed. I think I'm gonna rename them all back to apk before I do it.

You have to look for a theme that's compatible with the nightly builds. Look in the general android section on XDA.
