If it had better specs (it's no improvement from a gnex) I'd kinda want the First. It looks nice and is essentially stock Android with a launcher that can be disabled.

the .md5 file is just a file to use to make sure your file downloaded correctly, it's not the actual recovery. The recovery should be a .img file unless the s3 is different.

chevyrado14
04-23-2013, 07:17 PM
id stick with the 4.1 rolling back might mess your phone up idk. after you flash the 4.1 in odin do this...

Step 8: Open up the SuperUser application from your app drawer and make sure the binaries are up to date! You can do this by sliding over to the info screen and selecting update binary.

Step 9: Download the EZ-Unlock app to your device from HERE.(Only use version 1.1 or 1.2 for now as the latest versions have issues!)

Step 10: Open the app and select unlock! Now your unlocked...yup its that easy!

Step 11: Download the EZ-recovery app to your device from HERE.

Step 12: Open app, select CWM recovery, tap the pulldown menu, choose CWM 6.0.1, select flash, then reboot recovery.

Step 13: Congrats you are now rooted, unlocked, and have a custom recovery installed!! If you want to flash a custom rom proceed to section 3 or 4.

That was a moto method. The Sammy is probably different. Flashing any aosp based rom (AOKP, cm, etc) should get you built in tethering. If you want to stay stock rooted for now, I'm sure there's a way to tether.

So after the Verge review and half of the D-L review, my take so far is:

S4: better battery, more vivid screen, better good-light camera, "cheaply" made, fuck ton of touchwiz bloat (some good, most unneccesary)
One: more "accurate" screen but sometimes washed out, better low-light camera, mushy good-light camera, seks build quality, sense got more minimal instead of more bloated

I have no problem paying a premium since they don't technically offer customs, but $65 is ridiculous. I asked a couple people and they only paid $35-40. I think they are starting to capitalize on the fact that a lot of people are wanting them done now.

That's what i have at home but i hate when i forget to change one or two or i'm in a hurry so I just copy the mp3s over without checking tags. Because of fgt MTP i can't just plug the phone in and change tags with a program, i need to copy the mp3 off, change it, copy it back. I'll give iTag a try, it just gets tedious doing it on the phone.

hmm so the cheapest way to try TMo is the $70 bring your own phone plan?

Cez★
04-24-2013, 08:24 PM
shouldnt be. theres the $50 prepaid line or the $30 unlimited web and 100minutes talk

stonehenge
04-24-2013, 08:29 PM
Don't think they have that anymore, they just have $50/$60/$70 depending on amount of data. So $50 is cheapest way to try it.

Mike, would a TMo straight talk sim give me an accurate test of TMos network or do they only use a few of the towers? :chin:

MikeH
04-24-2013, 10:42 PM
Go to walmart for $30 plan if it isn't online. ST would give you accurate test of TMo too though.

You also have to buy a $10 SIM for TMo too though. I believe.

From Walmart.com: "The $30 Unlimited Web & Text with 100 min talk plan works only with T-Mobile Phones purchased from a Walmart store or from Walmart.com."

Battery feels like its draining faster lately. I guess it could be AOKP but I think the last Carbon was the same. It is deep sleeping and nothing is showing up too high on the battery list besides Screen.

I'm at 20% remaining after 8hr11m with only 1hr of screen time. The screen has used 53% of the battery in that hour it was on. Next highest is Phone Idle at 10%.

I know the GNex battery isn't amazing but its usually better than this. Still using the extended.

it says my price is $39.99

don't see any mention of a discount anywhere. Either I don't get one anymore (fgts) or it's already reduced?

fgts. maybe they wont apply discount to it since its already cheap. it isnt on sale, but no other qi charger other than china ones are that cheap.

I was wrong about the 8% discount:

05% Feature Discount
03% Bonus Feature Discount

why did your discount change? did VZW change the way they give discounts or did your work change something?

idk which changed. Verizon sent out an email (and D-L covered it) saying that you had to resubmit your work email address so it can be "re-authorized". If you don't then you lose your discount completely. So I did that and it went from 15% to 5% and it looks like no discount on accessories.

I've been trying to embrace PIE because more screen real estate is nice and a homescreen without bars is sexy.

I'm getting used to it already but sometimes it refuses to come up with the bottom border. I'm not sure why. Other times it comes up right away but sometimes it won't. I have the right border enabled also and that one seems to always work but my case gets in the way sometimes. #thinbezelproblems

maybe it's an issue with Purity. There aren't many PIE settings and I know roms like PA have fuck tons of options.
