I was late to work this morning because my alarm didn't go off. Looked at my phone and it has the red light of dead. :(

I left it on the charger overnight like I always do, but for whatever reason it just died. Wasn't hot or anything. I've been running the stock 4.2.2 with Faux' Enhanced Stock kernel for a couple of weeks straight. Tried to get into fastboot and it won't even do that. Held the power button/pwr+vol-, etc for over a minute and still nothing. Yay for crappy hardware. :( I'm probably going to try to open it up and disconnect the battery since that seems to work with some people who have this problem (which is apparently pretty widespread). I can't really afford to have a $336 RMA hold on my account this month with moving and all.

Got the N4 apart last night fairly easily. It didn't come back on after just disconnecting the battery but leaving it unhooked overnight finally let it come back on. Had 40% charge when it booted up and charged up normally. I'm thinking the batteries are what the problem is. It looks extremely cheap, and on top of that the markings aren't even right. So when it happens to you Mike and Cez, just take your time. It's not difficult to get apart.

Jellybeer doesn't have a way to adjust statusbar transparency (or I can't find it). I found navbar but no statusbar. After flashing, it is 100% transparent. After applying a theme it is 0% transparent.

I've tried the AOSP compiled kernel the PA guy put out for a bit here and there to get away from the HSIC stuff but I can't fix the colors with just RGB sliders. Open up a picture and you'll see what I mean.

I'd forgotten Franco doesn't use the right color tuning so his setting for halfbreed may actually be different than what PA puts out as a preset.

If your phone has a normal "Browser" in the app drawer, that is the one we are talking about. It's a lot faster than Chrome but Google has been pushing Chrome with all the newest versions of Android instead of the old fast browser. :emo:

Mike/Cez, do you have Gallery lag problems running ROMs? I've tried CM/AOKP/Carbon/Xylon and every single one has ridiculous lag and chop when opening the "Camera" folder inside the Gallery. Does it with both the GoogleGallery.apk and Gallery2.apk included in the ROM. Stock is obviously smooth or I wouldn't be bitching.

It's minor shitty quirks like that which seems to always push me back to stock. The data drops caused by the HSIC/bionic patches I can deal with, but for whatever reason all of the ROMs I've tried annoy me with little things. Same thing happens with custom kernels, just by flashing Franco or Faux' modified kernel I get constant reboots. Always no issues with stock or Faux stock "enhanced" kernel that just has the HSIC/color modules added.

i flashed a xylon nightly last night. made the mistake of flashing the gapps posted by the dude who does the nightlies. came with xenoamp music player and some other nonsense and no play store. I think it may have been an "add on" and not really gapps but they were in his gapps folder.

Deleted nonsense and flashed legit gapps. All is well.

I'm getting 4-4.5 hours of SOT with Faux' enhanced stock kernel at 75%+ screen brightness all the time. These guys that report ridiculous numbers are almost surely doing it with only 1 core running, no sync and the screen at basically zero brightness.

Bit of a side question, but would it be possible to relock the bootloader yet keep root? With my new job I need to actually use this thing as a phone and have it work with some proprietary software that obviously won't work on unsecured devices. Might even have to go back to stock everything.

Also it seems like the guy behind air kernel has made it over to the N4. I ran that when I had my NS. Tickles the hell out of me at how nearly every post is someone saying "zomg, so smooth." There is absolutely no difference in any of this shit anymore. Unless mpdecison is turned off (which is silly, QCOM engineers know what works better than amateur devs) none of these other tweaks make any difference. Hell they may actually make the phone run worse.

Since flashing Xylon, my screen will randomly turn off while I'm using the phone. It just goes black. If I hit power, it shows what I was looking at for a second and shows the CRT animation and locks like it should. So its just going black, not locking itself.

Also, while asleep, the screen turns on every few seconds. It doesn't unlock and the screen is just black but it turns on for a second or two then back off. Keeps repeating.

So I guess I'm flashing something today lol

The only thing I was using my db for was a game. I have a game that saves my progress and whatnot to a folder. When I play the game on my laptop, it doesn't have all that saved progress. So I just sync that folder with dropbox and have my progress in both places.

I rarely play on the laptop though so I can just copy it over when I do.
