Well, yesterday was interesting.

Finally got around to doing the ODIN process last night to get the newest official Samsung modem, ED04. Which involved ODINing the phone back to EB01 (stock Froyo) and taking the OTA update to ED04. No problem, right? WRONG. Kept getting a "SERVER UNAVAILABLE" message when I'd check for updates. :fp: Sooooo had to temporarily root it to use wireless tether and download a special DL09 modem file to ODIN into the phone, tried to download directly onto phone but it wouldn't let me because it wasn't recognized. :think:

Anyway, once I got that I had to flash the new modem, that's when ODIN hung on me. :fp2: Had to pull the cable and flash the stock EB01 AGAIN, then flash the modem, and all was well. Only then could I flash CWM to flash the DL09-EB04 modem update .zip that I was trying to avoid doing by taking the OTA to begin with.

Everything checked out, so I reinstalled CM7, restored my nandroid, and back I am. Took two hours to do all that. :jester: Scared me shitless when the screen on :datFascinate: turned blue when ODIN stopped responding that first time. :roflmao:

I just got this one Friday. No way I spent 78 hours in the gallery. Something is up.

Haven't seen the MIUI gallery but the stock 3D gallery on CM7 isn't really that great. It looks nice and has all the features that it needs but it takes forever to load thumbnails sometimes, even when I haven't added any new pics or anything.

you can try using the Gallery3D.apk (or however it is named) from CM7 :shrug: worth a try, can't hurt.

You can also install QuickPic, PicturenLite, etc and then just remove the old gallery by renaming it but occassionally i'll run into something that only wants to open in the stock gallery for some reason :fp:

Tried force stopping everything I could think of that would use it, cleared caches, reeboots, and even moved the gallery .apk to the junk folder. Still running. This blows.

Definitely not reporting wrong. I can't even get 12 hours out of this battery now. I was getting close to 30 with roughly the same usage. Something is keeping it running. I just have to figure out what. Either that or say FTS, and full wipe and manual restore piece by piece. Fun times. :suicide:

Not yet... but I'm about to see what happens with a MIUI apk here in about 30 minutes. Just for fun.

I installed the MIUI camera and gallery on mine and they both work great. There are a few things that won't work but the DX with CM7 isn't the best test bed for camera apps right now :jester:

The stuff I found that doesn't work 100% is the "color effect" option, the "widescreen" pic size, and of course the camcorder (no camcorders work on CM4DX so far). As for the gallery, it looks like it all works except "set lockscreen wallpaper" because CM doesn't support that.

Both are really nice though, they make me want legit MIUI so bad...

Team Black Hat's All-In-One installer
Alright, P3Droid of Team Black Hat has been nice enough to put together an all-in-one installer for CM7 BETA for the DX! This installer is in update.zip format, and can be installed regardless of what version of moto's kernel you are running (be it .340 or .596 or whathaveyou).

The steps are as follows (once the zip is on your SDCard and you are in recovery):

go to mounts and storage
format system
format data
format cache
mount system
go back
go to install update from zip
select the update-cm-*-MONSTER.zip
install
install gapps (optionally)


YOU WILL GET A RADIO INSTALL ERROR IGNORE THIS AND RESTART PHONE

To install the Radio **** Must be done for GPS to work***
After intial install of CM7

1) hold down power button and select reboot and then recovery
2) in recovery select "install zip from sdard"
3) select "chose zip from sdcard"
4) find the Monster.zip and install
5) Reboot phone

Yup, the steps mike quoted are what i did from rooted GB. No sbfing/rooting/bootstrapping/flashing. After those instructions you'll be on the first release of CM4DX. Then you can flash the latest nightly and camera/camcorder fix.

Most importantly. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES INSTALL/RUN DROIDXBOOTSTRAP OR DROID2BOOTSTRAP WHILE RUNNING CM7. IF YOU IGNORE THIS YOU WILL HAVE TO SBF YOUR DEVICE. CM7 has been engineered to reboot into recovery by either a.) using adb to get into a shell and typing "reboot recovery", or b.) simply holding the power button until the global action menu comes up, and then selecting "Reboot", "Recovery". There is no need for DX/D2Bootstrap and running them will mess up the 2nd-init process.

Did you already try clearing data? Sometimes after an sbf or rom flash, it will loop until you clear data. You can do it in stock recovery.

Well, I forgot you pulled the battery mid-flash, might for sure need an sbf.

Make sure you are holding the right keys to get into bootloader. I think there are a couple key combos that will get you into it but only one combo will work for rsdlite.

While the phone is powered off, hold down the Volume Down button on the right of the phone.
While still holding Volume Down, also hold down the Camera button on the right side of the phone.
While the previous two buttons are held down, also hold down the Power button on the top of the phone.
The phone will display the bootloader menu. From here we can restore the stock SBF.

an example is, I have tried to record a video while the phone is playing music several times. On stock froyo or GB the music would skip and it would slow down and record choppy video. ApeX was a little better but still choppy/laggy.

Tried it on CM7 earlier and it had NO problems.

Cam: lgb, play with the theme chooser too. Search the market for "cm7 theme" and you'll see plenty of free ones. Mike put some in the dropbox too. Just install the apk and they'll show up in Theme Chooser. No flashing or metamorph or anything.

Well in CM7 you can turn on percentages on the default theme. You can try Matted Blues also, it has percent gave on the battery icon.

Eddeh, check le vzw site and see what your data usage is. There is one view that shows your data for the last 3 or 4 months. Highest I got was 1.7gb so even if I had tiered, would be fine.

But yeah, as long as you don't cancel your account, you'll stay unlimited. New lines (if wife goes to vzw for ex) will be tiered though. Upgrades/renewals will stay unlimited.

Its on 3g, but I don't use it much if at all. May be once or twice on tapatalk while during lunch. Otherwise it stays on the desk or in a drawer. Dept doesn't care if I have it in my office just not in the refinery.

Mike, do you know any good fonts to use on le phone? Most of the ones I try look like ass when they are small or bold or something. That or some characters aren't present in the new font so I see little boxes in app names and shit. :blah:

Just need something clean that has all the right characters in it.

So me work bought me a Charge but me no likey. Think its gonna get exchanged for an Inc 2 and since Costco gives 90 days to exchange I will again for something better. Only me Costco is saying you only have 14 days so if I have to Im gonna print out all teh info from the website then ask to talk to managers, etc if I haz to.

I called customer service and they insured me that it is in fact 90 days but kiosks can be more of a pain to go through.

Its cool but its basically a fascinate with a 4.3" screen. Has like 1 ROM, no AOSP, etc. Was gonna get Inc 2 in the first place but changed my mind at the last minute :erniefp:

Inc 2 could also be the last VZW phone to have a shit ton of ROM options since its not LTE.

Have you tried flashing a different radio Jayson? With me Fascinate I'll see crazy swings in service just by flashing different radios. Literally go from 20% of the time with NO service to 0% of the time, especially at work.

So I emailed costco and this is what they said, now I haz physical proof.

If you want to return your phone and your service then you only have 14 days to do so.
