So apparently I faux-pased today.

I work at a Catholic college, where some of the professors are priests and such. I responded to a call about a professor that needed help with the projector (turns out it just wasn't set to display the computer source). One button later it was working and I showed him the button he needed.

Then he said "bless you" and did some kind of cross thing with his hand (I don't know the religious stuff) as I was walking out. My wife insists that I was supposed to kiss his ring after that...sounds silly to me.

I recall in hs them telling us about it, but I never did any kind of registering. I registered to vote and that was it.

Yes and no. It's basically a roll for the government to use if they need the manpower. Although the public backlash to a service draft means I don't think they're stupid enough to try it, barring a land invasion on our soil.
