do you need your books for class?

the way the college books are going to work is more supply-demand stuff and quotas. if they decide to use your book next year, not a new edition or change books, they will be worth more. if they change the edition or book they be worth little. also, most work on a quota with a certain number to buyback. in this buyback they will give x amount cash for x amount of books. once they reach that number of books, they will then lower amount book is worth. i would compare this to how much they are going on eBay, amazon, or elsewhere, against how much bookstore would give you. for example, a basic humanities book with high attendance/class numbers is going to be worth more than a real specialized engineering book. a large number of people have to take a humanities class so they (college) will need more books to cover the attendance/enrollment. an engineering book is going to have few people who will buy the book due to that basic fact....the price of either will go back to editions, book switches, etc.

i still feel college books are a joke and a ripoff. i like the idea of $10-15 electronic pdf files of books. yes, it makes you have a computer to use the book, but it makes the material so much easier to research for information. how many professors actually use every single word of every single page...very few. as a pdf document you can CTRL+F and find what they are talking about in the notes/materials. simple idea which would work. i may have only kept may be 5-6 books throughout my entire undergrad career to now. in the past year, i have only bought one book. even then i managed to find it using google books.

nah im going to get rid of the useless ones i will never look at or touch. mostly english and the ones from history we used to make a report out of. keeping the more interesting and info having ones

what i usually do is search the various torrents for them, or just simple google searches on google books. the book i had to get was/is toxicology principles for the industrial hygienist, which is only published by a specialized organization, aiha, and it was on there. so some specialized books can be found, given this, if its real general give it a shot. google search is free so why not.
