Mike, are you running a ROM on your N7? I picked up another one last weekend (since previous jerb took mine when I left) and have been running stock 5.1.1. It is smooth but will randomly freeze and reboot.

So if the LG comes out and the specs are so low that it isn't much of an upgrade from my G2 then idk, might have to look into the Huawei or N6.

Yep, there will be an LG Nexus 5 and a Huawei Nexus 6, plus the current/old Moto Nexus 6 is still an option.

The LG will have lower specs than the Huawei, we just don't know how much lower yet. Might not have as high res a screen as the Huawei for example. Should still have plenty of RAM, fingerprint reader, and be a quick phone either way.
