rofl its really not as bad as it looks. Most of the beginning of that post is the guy giving credit and wanting you to read up on what root is and what roms do and whatnot. The actual steps aren't too long and they are all easy, he just describes exactly what to do. Good guide/tutorial

thc, you think I could rig something up to just have a dedicated, flush mounted USB port in my center console? It would always be hot and I could dremel out the hole for the port, epoxy or glue it from the back. That way it looks OEM and no need to take up a cig port.

Yeah, that should be pretty easy to rig up. Either use a flush-mount USB port, or cut the one out of the 12v splitter/USB thingy like I have.

Hmm I don't haz T9, only full qwerty. Try holding down the symbol key and see if you get settings maybe?

Actually, it looks like the MyTash doesn't have T9 wtf so gai must have put that on there... try going into a text, hold down on the text area and you should get an Input Method option, click that, whats it haz?

well i got to setting but i didnt see anything regarding it. it probably haz t9 to make texting easier but i dont like it since i usually add a bunch of words that arent recognized

so does it just get a list of similar words and allows you to choose or keep teh one you make? i shouldve read the manuel

Yeah I don't like T9 either. There should be a full qwerty. Go into a text or email or something and tap a text area so the keyboard pops up. Hold down where it says "Type to compose":

and you should get something like this:

OR hold down on the symbol key in the corner (or wherever it is on the T9) and you should get something like this:

Then click "Input Method" and you should be able to change it to something other than the T9 it is on.

thank you wan. didnt try holding teh symbol key
did that and it had 3 options. one to fix mistakes which is what usually happend and to have suggestions. i turned teh quick fix off

yeap. kinda tricky to do it. sometimes it no does it. plus i have to get used to it cuz i end up missing a few letters

ya, takes some getting used to but I can fly on it now with not many mistakes.

Cool thing about Android is you can replace it with Swype, BetterKeyboard, and there are others.

Here is a rooted/flashed Droid running at 800mhz. His doesn't have the black theme but he shows off some pinche zoom, the news/weather widget, the 2.1 launcher (fancy 3d app drawer, 5 screens), the 2.1 music player (not very different), and the speed that things work at.
