There are plenty of other good "music recommendation services" similar to Pandora and Slacker...too many to even list. last.fm and ilike are popular.
If you pick acouple songs you like and get a playlist started there is a drop down that says "radio off" just switch it on and it can play similar music to anything you put on your playlist

the nice thing is at any point you can add a song of your choice or skip as many times as you want
