It's because Iraq is a place that is still in conflict ("in conflict" sounds dumb but you know what I mean), it's not a first world country with running marathons getting bombed. It also isn't our homeland where we live. Of course we'll feel more threatened/upset when it happens on our soil and could have been us.

That doesn't make it right by any means and those two lives should be equal to each life lost in Iraq, but that's why they freak out more about 2 in boston than lots in Iraq.



I'm more annoyed at the people attempting to solve who did it. I've seen comments on Reddit/Imgur/Flickr/etc filled with "look I zoomed in on this pic of the crowd an hour before the bombs, you can see this pixellated guy walking behind the crowd instead of looking at the runners like everyone else O_O HE IS BOMBER GAIZ ZOMG PEOPLE DONT HAVE FREE WILL AND HE COULDN'T HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET A BETTER VIEW OR GO TAKE A PISS, HE IS TERRORIST.
