Remote?
The HTPC is simply turned on via the Wake On LAN (or similar) android/iOS app. I then use TeamViewer to see screen/manipulate computer.

Welp, looks like I was able to find something to get it to work. As to whether the right way or not...no clue.

Usually something in a DMZ only has access to the outside world but not to other things on your network. It also usually means alltheports are open to the internet. Depends how it is configured.

Are LAN/cat5 cables susceptible to failing?

Not really, unless you've pinched them really bad, cut them, pulled the end off, etc.

Hhhmmm. I may have to switch it up when I get back tonight.
What other issues could cause that on/off? Driver issues? Note I am on windows 8.1. The ports on computer are testing as open per various websites. Hmmm. Just thinking iit may be time to replace router.

If websites say the port is open, its prob not be the router.

Ports open on computer verified that within windows firewall. Wake on LAN works via router web interface (manual wake on) and when connected to LAN (via computer and mobile app).
Port forwarding issues from WAN maybe? I may install different version of DD-wrt to see if its the build version.

hmm idkwtf is going on
WOL working from the local network but not from outside says that the router/firewall is blocking it. Ports on the computer showing as open from websites says that the router/firewall is letting it through.

What is in interesting is that I can get the WOL to work within the LAN, but nothing even happens when trying on WAN.
