Your mobile data is b0rked. Check if it's turned on, make sure you have good signal, restart phone, etc.

I bought a few of those $10 Kyocera Hydros so I could give some as gifts to use as tablets. One is for my 2 1/2 year old nephew and my sister (not tech-helpless but no geek, has a dumbphone that must be at least a decade old), the other is for my parents (tech-helpless with bad eyesight and lame fine motor control). We're having our Crimmus get-together on Sunday.

For my nephew and sister, they're also getting a real, decent tablet and I figured this would let them have a secondary that can handle the kid getting it wet, easily carried in sister's purse to hand to nephew when they're out somewhere, etc.

I'm going to try to preload these with apps and such so they can enjoy them immediately after opening. Any suggestions?

The shitty thing is that you can't switch the primary gmail account on a phone so if their parents want to sign in and install/buy apps at some point, they'll need to use your account. I'd put a password on the play store and put it in airplane mode before handing it over lol

FIDIL. Back up APKs to SD, factory reset, install APKs from SD.

...except can't haz install apps from SD card without first installing app for installing apps. :xzibit: No "Easy Installer" on this OEM like on Venture. Maybe if I place apps in the Downloads folder they'll show up in Downloads.

I guess I could factory reset, have them log in, install Easy Installer, then install ALL THE APPS!

No, I logged in as me and installed apps figuring I could change main account later. FTS. Using Chrome APK downloader to grab APKs, then just gonna adb install after factory reset.

Tasked is pretty powerful from what I've seen. Even more-so if you add in NFC tags, home automation systems, etc.

I did now.

Installed weather widget for my parents. Installed kid games for nephew. Installed word games/solitaire/Angry Birds, Navfree USA offline nav, flashlight widget, QuickPic, Firefox, Kindle/Nook apps, Amazon MP3, Amazon Appstore for both. Set plain black wallpaper for parents, colorful wallpaper for nephew/sister.

Feel free to throw some other ideas at me.
