Machaca is dried and shredded beef. It's like finely shredded beef jerky. You can just nom it from the bag or cook it up with eggs or throw it in a burrito/quesadillas.

Kinda. It absorbs a little of the egg/salsa/etc but some people soak it a little before. I just throw it in a pan w/ whatever I have idgaf

For machaca, just fry it up with some eggs and salsa and nom it in a burrito or with rice/beans or whatever.

It can be expensive like jerky though.
