update:

It's been parked for a few weeks. It is due for an oil change and the brakes are down to the wear indicators, which (old school!) squeak while brakes are NOT applied which is extremely annoying. I've been sick and then hurt my back and was waiting for parts. Also it's been hot and I fixed the truck's A/C by recharging it, while I assumed

's A/C was R-12 (though I thought I saw conversion fittings in a photo of it the other day) and needed all new O-rings/seals/etc.

Tonight I planned to catch up on a few small automotive chores. I jacked it up and pulled a wheel off. My impact wrench was weak like there wasn't enough air but there should have been plenty of air.

Got the wheel off and used a hammer and screwdriver to mangle the wear indicator so it would STFU until I do my brakes. There's plenty of meat left and I'll do the job within a few weeks. Test drove it. Sounds better, and goddamn it's nice to drive it again, been too long.

Checked the A/C out. Definitely conversion fittings, and that probably explains the label on the compressor saying it's remanufactured. Stuck the gauge on, there was still over 10psi. Shorted the low pressure switch and the compressor came on, so the clutch works. That means I just have to put some Super Seal and a few cans of R-134a in and I'll have working A/C.

Oh, and when I took that first wheel off I noticed that the tire was trashed. There was still tread but running along the tread was a bulge and a depression and a huge crack exposing cords and wires and shit.

I grabbed a different wheel and slapped it on. While getting it, I moved the studded snow tires I recently bought and noticed a stud that had nearly fallen out. That tire has a bunch of studs in various states of almost falling out/brokenness, and another one has some imperfect studs too. With 10 studded snow tires and few all-seasons with tread, I was trying to decide on a couple studded tires whose studs I would remove...looks like the decision has been made.

I had recently bought some wheelcovers. Since the ugly steelies are even uglier and more out-of-place than the beat-up flaking chrome exposing rust original Buick rally wheels I slapped a couple wheelcovers on....they look so cool off the car, they look decent on the car with whitewalls, but goddamn do they look ugly with blackwalls.
