1. Stack some cinderblocks.
2. Place a discarded door on top of cinderblocks. :closeenough:

4x4s, 2x4s, and half inch ply for the top. If you wanted to get fancy, you could put edge banding on the ply.

4x4's for legs. 2x4's for frame/edges/joists under 1/2" plywood because 1/2" plywood ain't gonna hold shit without some structure. Know how a wall is constructed? Same design.

Flat door is 20 bucks at Lowe's but if you cut it down there is problem they be hollow. You can cut them down have to knock 1x2 out that's in edge or bottom and reglue and tack it back in.

Not once you put the edge piece back in. Another good idea is two get two small cheap shelves and screw door to top of them. Then has storage too. Can slide some baskets in that for drawers.

If I can make this, you can make a proper desk.
Made it for an aquarium

I would use plywood. My computer weighs damn near 50lbs, so I wouldn't use a hollow interior door to try and support it. Maybe try a salvage shop for a solid wood door if you don't want ply. MDF has a nice smooth surface, but will swell if exposed to water so I would seal it.

If it swells with skeet exposure, its a no-go.

u put desktop on top of it?
interesting.. i was thinking of going plywood because honestly dont want to cut up a door and putting it back together. sounds weak if i put anything like me weight leaning on it. and i think with ply i'd have more liberty/ease to cut it in whatever shape id want

@ all of the door talk. Door is ghetto desk. You use a door because it was free. If you're buying shit don't buy a fucking door.
BTW, can haz desks and tables free on CL free stuff, Freecycle, etc. http://houston.craigslist.org/zip/4930544342.html ---------- Post added at 10:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:22 PM ---------- BTW if you do score a door from a remodeling/demolition project's dumpster, you're looking for an old solid door.
