Yup. WD40 sucks, and if something is repaired by WD40 you've got a bigger problem and it will probably return. Fuck WD40.
Also, oil supposedly is bad for belts.
I recommend carrying a spare belt and whatever tools you need. And probably replacing that tensioner.
