Minor forum changes

The other day I made two minor changes to the forum configuration.

The first was that I put a minimum 1 second delay between searches. This means that if you do a search, you have to wait at least one whole second before you do another. I did it for troubleshooting (but later found out that it wasn't necessary). I suspect it has no effect on anyone.

The second is that I changed how unread/read thread statistics are tracked.

Original behavior: A few hours after you have visited the site, all threads are marked Read for you whether or not you have read them.

New behavior: The forum tracks threads individually. If you haven't read the latest posts in the lol pic thread but have read the chat thread, then when you come back tomorrow the lol pic thread will still show as unread.

I stumbled on the option for that and was so happy to see it...the old behavior is something I hate about vBulletin forums, while the new behavior has always been the default in phpBB and is my favorite thing about that forum software.

If I'm at work and can't check out a FF thread, I still want to remember to check it out at home so the new behavior works for me. Does it work as well for everyone else?

This explains why there are a bunch of FF threads still showing as unread even after a few days rofl. I never check them.

I like that it keeps all other threads unread if you don't check them especially on Tapatalk. It keeps me busy when Im bored and I don't miss anything :cheeky:

I mean I can go on the forums here, view the threads I choose to, leave, come back hours later & it still show new posts in forums I have visited last, but not read. Rather than auto marking em read like it used to.

OIC. Yes, that's by design. Unless you've read all the threads in a forum, that forum will not be marked as read.
