Three cars were stolen from one student parking lot at a university in a three-day period, officials said.




University of Houston-Downtown officials said the cars were stolen on Nov. 16, 17 and 18.

A red 1994 Chevrolet Silverado was taken on Nov. 16, officials said. The next day, a tan 2001 Chevrolet Caprice was stolen and then Thursday a blue 2001 Buick Le Sabre was stolen, university officials said.

UHD police said all of the cars were parked in the university's Daly Street parking lot, which is a large student lot located north of Interstate 10 and west of North Main Street.

The thefts happened between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., police said.

Anyone with information about the thefts or who needs to report a crime or suspicious activity on campus is asked to call UHD police at 713-221-8065 or 713-221-8911.

A family is living in fear after armed men broke into their home and terrorized them.

Late Saturday night, four men kicked in the front door of a home with family members including four children, a disabled adult man and a paralyzed elderly man inside. Some of the suspects were wearing masks, and they were armed.
According to one of the victims, who does not want to be identified, a man armed with a knife approached his girlfriend and her young son, threw her down and threatened her. A second suspect kicked in the bedroom door where two young girls were, and tried to smother one of them.

One of the men then went to the room of the paralyzed grandfather, the victim told Eyewitness News, pointed a gun at him and told him to get up. At that point, the disabled man came to the grandfather's defense, and was assaulted by the gunman.

One child ran out the front door to the grandmother next door, and another child jumped out a window and hid. The father said he fought with one suspect while protecting a six-year-old child.

The suspects finally fled the house after taking only two dollars from a little girl's purse. The father suffered some cuts and bruises, but no one was seriously injured.

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - In Cape Coral Federal Agents raid a home and arrest a man accused of making fake ID's.

The bust happened Thursday night in the West Cape Estates.

That's off Old Burnt Store Road, just north of Tropicana Parkway.

WINK News was in Federal Court Thursday afternoon when the suspect, Brandon Albanito went before the judge.

Federal Investigators say Albanito was operating a major scam out of his home in the upscale gated community West Cape Estates.

Brandon Albanito is accused of making fake licenses and mailing to people across the country.

The fake ID's were sent to a number of states including, Arizona, Wisconsin, Arkansas, North Dakota, and Indiana.

Albanito is charged with eleven counts of producing fake i-d's and mailing them.

He's also charged with money laundering.

When investigators raided his home Thursday night they found also $800,000 dollars in cash and drugs.

Right now Brandon Albanito is being held without bond.

His arraingnment is Wednesday in federal court.

He faces up to 30 years in prison.

'Sexual torture chamber' shut down during sting

LEE COUNTY: Thirteen people were busted in a county wide prostitution ring that involved a house converted into a sex shop - complete with what was described as a torture chamber. And the house was located right down the street from a Cape Coral school.

The sex shop is in plain view on Southwest 36th Terrace in Cape Coral – right near Ida Baker High School.

While walking to and from school, student Natalie Hernandez passes the house everyday.

"They have a lot of cars," she said.

Though it looks normal on the outside, Lieutenant Christopher Reeves with the Lee County Sheriff's Office said on the inside, "It was set up as a one-stop shop for all kinds of what you could call - sexual ventures."

The Lee County Sheriff's Office took pictures of the home and those can be seen below.

According to the sheriff's office report:

"All bedrooms only had a blow up mattress or small bed on the floor. The garage was converted into a sexual torture chamber - equipped with a leather bed, hand cuffs, whips and chains."

"It was set up for the sole purpose of prostitution," said Reeves.

"That's crazy. This is my neighborhood. That's pretty bad," said Hernandez.

The house was just one stop in a county-wide prostitution operation and in just 14 hours, deputies arrested 13 people on prostitution charges.

The sting was mainly targeting sex solicitation online. Deputies went undercover in homes and motels in Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda and Lehigh Acres.

Residents in the Cape Coral neighborhood are happy about the arrests, but say they want the sex house gone.

"I don't like it at all that that has happened. It's something serious. And when your have grandkids, you don't like something like that happening in your area," said Cape resident Elena Caravallo.

As for Hernandez, she says she may find a new way to walk to school.

"I mean you never know who's watching you or something," she said.

We spoke to the owner of the home Friday night and she says the rooms are set up the way they are because she hosts swinger parties there on a regular basis.

"I host swinger parties here on the weekends. I have been for four years. The police are well aware, I'm not breaking any laws and there's nothing illegal going on. My neighbors are all very well-aware, matter of fact I've had a few neighbors at the parties," the owner said.

The owner of the home, who did not want to be identified, is not facing any criminal charges.

Four killings in 8 days leads to state of emergency in Philadelphia suburb

A suburban Philadelphia city has declared a state of emergency following the fourth killing in eight days, including the death of a 2-year-old boy a week ago.

Chester Mayor Wendell Butler Jr. today proclaimed the state of emergency beginning tonight and running through Thursday morning, and he said he will ask the city council to extend it for a month.

During that time, no one is allowed on the street from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. each day, and no assembly of three or more people is allowed without a permit.

Butler said police officers would be working 12-hour shifts or more, state and county authorities had promised more resources and a federal task force would be operating in the city.

The most recent shooting death happened Friday night, and another man was killed Tuesday night.

There's a first time for everything it seems.

Soraya Evette Billinge, an angry wife in Fort Myers, Florida, is accused of calling authorities at Southwest Florida International Airport threatening to blow up planes because she was angry her husband worked nights at the airport, a local NBC affiliate reports.

She called airport police who told her that they could not help her husband's schedule, the Daily Mail reported.

According to a report by the Lee County Port Authority Police, Billinge became upset that police could not help her and so threatened 10 planes. "Okay I blow up, I blow up ten planes," she reportedly told dispatchers.

Yet Billinge's husband came to her defense, saying that she was "advising them of the 2006 incident in the United Kingdom in reference to bombs," according to reports.

Billinge was arrested and is facing felony charges.

The airport is remaining mum, only telling NBC 2 that her husband does not work for the TSA nor the port authority.

The Lee County Medical Examiner has positively identified the body discovered by Cape Coral Police on Thursday evening as that of 80-year-old James Arthur, a Cape Coral man who had been missing since Oct. 27.

The discovery was made Thursday in a wooded area about 80 yards from Old Burnt Store Road in north Cape Coral.

Police say a jogger reported smelling a foul odor in the area Thursday afternoon, prompting a search that led them to the body.

"She said, you know, now that you mention it, there was a foul odor coming from the area about 80 yards off the road so some other officers came and initiated the ground search and came across a deceased male," said Cape Coral Police spokesman Tony Sizemore.

The discovery came just hours after U.S. Marshals arrested Arthur's grandson Garrett Kern at a homeless shelter in Chicago.

Kern was wanted as the primary suspect in Arthur's disappearance. He and Arthur were last spotted at a probation office in Fort Myers on Oct. 27.

Detectives processed the scene where Arthur's body was found for several hours on Friday morning. They will also be working with the Lee County Medical Examiner's Office to determine a cause of death.

The Arthur family has been notified of the discovery.

"The outcome is not what we wanted. We never expected this, ever," said James Arthur's wife, Sally.

For a week, Sally Arthur held out hope, never expecting that her husband would be found dead.

"It was overwhelming then and now," she says.

Cape Police detectives are now in Chicago interviewing Garrett Kern. He will eventually be extradited back to Florida. Right now he remains a person of interest in the disappearance and death of his grandfather.

However, Sally says Kern wasn't a cruel person.

"We've raised him. We've had a lot of good times with Garrett and for it to end this way, it's just unthinkable," she says.

Kern is being held in Illinois on no bond for a previous cannabis charge from 2007. His next appearance in court is Monday.

The family continues to ask for privacy during this time, but they say they do appreciate everyone who has helped with the search over the past several days
