View Full Version : Rant: What's with the popularity of light beer

Why are blue collar beer brands' light beers what everybody drinks and they ignore non-light versions? Why are the blue blood beers the only ones that are widely available in non-light versions? Do I have to drink snobby if I don't want to drink light?

I must have burned 50 miles of gas trying to find Miller Genuine Draft, Molson Golden, Michelob Lager, or something like that. Every liquor store has loads of Michelob Ultra, Miller Light, MGD64, etc...and loads of non-light boutique, microbrew, and snobby-tasting foreign beers.

I don't drink much...yard work makes me want a beer, though. After spending the day outside powerwashing the house and such yesterday I wanted a beer and was surprised to find that I had none. That's why I finally bought some today.

Lame.

If you want to get drunk easily, hard liquor or mixed drinks will do it better than beer. Beer is only any good for a pleasant beverage that happens to have a little bit of alcohol in it.

i don't drink enough to notice, but id guess its because the majority of people out there who drink light beer do it with the sole purpose of getting drunk, and its become quite the fad.

one woodford/coke or a glass of draft beer once a month hardly constitutes not drinking at all

pffftt you made it seem like drinking was stupid when you use to talk about it.

drinking multiple times per week with the intention of getting drunk IS stupid. having a sip of whisky is not. a perfect analogy would be driving 130mph down the highway. it's STUPID. driving the speed limit is not

dont worry im sure obama will soon outlaw alcohol since it contributes to tens of thousands of preventable injuries and deaths every year

Drinking ain't bad as long as people are smart with it. Don't fucking drive after you pouned 30 beers. Don't act loud and stupid and try and pick fights.

To me, drinking is just a time where I get to hang out with friends. I could care less about getting "drunk". This weekend for example. We played some beer pong, I meet a couple new people, hung out with my friends and just had a fun time playing pong and chatting it up. Yea I got buzzed but I wasn't downing beers for it.

Another important point I forgot in the summary of ObamaCare pros and cons I posted earlier...there's bound to be lots of conflicts of interest when the government pays for our healthcare AND makes laws about what we can/cannot do.

it's funny the constitutional challenges are already being lined up as we speak. :roflmao: i personally dont think the entire thing will be repealed since it does have many good things in it, but the FEDERAL mandate that all people buy insurance violates the fuck out of the interstate commerce clause. it's one thing for an individual state or commonwealth to have a mandate, but the federal government is prohibited from forcing the people to buy or take part in anything, so that won't stand very long. although once the populace sees the tax increases on their paycheck on top of the tax increases coming from letting the Bush tax cuts expire, they may be moreso inclined to say fuck the entire thing. :hmm:

I've only been drunk like twice and its just because we were having a good time, not because I planned on getting drunk. I loves me some cola/redstag
