Does anyone download from the Live Music Archive?
http://www.archive.org/details/etree

When I download a complete set of mp3 files, they are not tagged. There is a text file I can download with the track names. The files are named for their track number, date, etc...not enough to automatically tag them from the filename.

Any good ways to automatically tag the files?

Got it figured out. foobar2000 has a Live Music Tagger that reads the metadata files from Live Music Archive and tags the mp3s.

I downloaded foobar2000:
http://www.foobar2000.org/files/3cb9d76515c31963f7152df3285525f3/foobar2000_v1.0.exe
then I used 7zip to extract it so I don't have to install it (I do portable software as much as possible and fb2k operates as portable by default but comes as an installer). Once I extracted it, I had to do a search for all files in the folder structure and move them into a single folder.

I also got the Trader's Friend live music tagger plugin:
http://foosion.foobar2000.org/components/1.0/foo_tradersfriend-0.7.1-20100107.zip
I'm not sure if it was necessary, it might be built-in now. Anyway, I put the dll from that zip into fb2k's folder and ran fb2k.

Once I was in fb2k, it was as easy as loading the files, selecting them, right-clicking them, and there was the tagger menu with live music tagger. Click OK on the dialog and they've got track names, which is the part I really needed...the rest I can quickly do with mp3tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en).
