I like to hack stuff into other stuff. This is especially true of something that's broken. I may want to repair it (more cheaply than is proper, so a hack repair) or I may want to modify it into something different.
Today I have a portable battery jump starter / 12v power supply / light. It has a 12v battery that won't take a charge. It is equipped with a 12v power outlet, a little light, jumper cable style clamps, and a small light duty 15v wall wart that slowly charges it through a standard barrel connector. It's got what seems like a somewhat ballsy switch for connecting the battery to the clamps.

Even when it was brand new it was worthless for jump starting. I have another one that is much better. It's old and its battery is failing but it's still useful. Anyway, back to the dead one...
What kind of hack should I do to it?
