That jack is under the OEM-specified jack point.

they cranked it so far that it crumpled up

I guess they thought the car would eventually start to lift off the ground

looks like they had it out to far not under the pinch weld but under the cladding itself.

Why is that lame pinch weld the OEM-specified jack point anyway? Shouldn't they have you jack something beefy?

For changing tires when not using the OEM jack, I jack under the A-arm or similar, something right next to the wheel. That's a lot less jacking since it just lifts the wheel instead of lifting the whole car and letting the wheel drop.

i jack the frame up

if on front, I lift a-arm. If on rear. the whole rearend gets lifted. ON the ford I can lift the front and rear w 2 jacks and have all 4 wheels off the ground.
Solid Axle FTW!

Btw, putting the 39.5 boggers back on for the weekend

Jay, how do you lift the whole rear end?

JayBo

Yeah, that's what I thought you meant. I have heard of this plenty but I don't think I've ever actually seen it. I worry that it could mess up the diff or axle but if it's common practice then obviously it doesn't.

No way man. When I worked at the service station/tire place thats just about the ONLY way we'd lift the rear of a vehicle if possible. Even on semi trucks.

:head3: Awesome. That'll save me some time and effort from now on.

Is it ok to run the truck in drive like that? For example, if you for some reason need to let the wheels spin while off the ground...

I've never had a problem doing it. Just chock the front wheels very very very well :rofl2:

Id put the axle down on jack stands if I wanted to let the tires spin...they arent too stable when you lift them from the center of the axle....they can tip over.

the Nizzan jack has to go on the pinch weld since the jack is made gheylike to only go there. Works like a champ though, none of that door-foldy action like above :jester:

Yeah, a lot of OEM spare tire jacks are made to only fit there.
