When the bar of soap is getting too thin to use, don't throw it out. Wet it and wet the new bar then stick them together. It works even better if they've both just been exposed to a long hot shower.

Test a remote: Another option is to aim it at the electric pickup on an electric guitar. You will hear the remote's output converted into sound through the amp.

Extra batteries: The 9v thing is correct. 6 volt lantern batteries are rumored to have C or D cells in them but in actuality they have an odd size that is useless. I'm not familiar with the 12v battery they're talking about. It is a common construction technique for batteries with higher voltage than 1.5, until you get into automotive style batteries (lead acid, etc). Also, battery packs from remote control cars and cordless phones are usually made of rechargable AA batteries.

Beam-style wiper blades...unlike classic hinge-frame blades, the beam style blade doesn't wear out; only the rubber refill/insert wears out. It is worth replacing the refill instead of the whole expensive blade.

Well, to be even more frugal, get the blade at the junkyard. Then if it needs new rubber just give it new rubber.

I wish I could just buy a bulk roll of wiper refill.

Bringing this back from the dead.

Always keep a pack of preparation h wipes and flushable wet wipes around in case you gets diarrhea like crazy. The wet wipes will prolong making your butthole raw and the preparation h will calm it when it does become raw.

Going to the bathroom at work/etc, I prepare and bring good TP and an indivudally wrapped Wet Ones wipe every time. It's just so much more pleasant than struggling with awful institutional paper (and the wet wipe is always nice).

So anyway, while reading Reddit LPT I remembered one of my own. I do a lot of my best thinking in the shower, whether it's figuring out how to fix something or just my grocery list. Unfortunately by the time I get out of the shower I've forgotten. Solution: Buy tub markers/crayons made for little kids to scribble while they take a bath. They're perfect for writing ideas on the shower walls/doors.

Here's another one. Don't have a headlight dinger? Hang something from your keys/around the ignition cylinder when you turn the lights on, so you will have to take it off to get the keys out. I've always done that. Works great. I don't bother with the instructions, just the codes, because I can usually figure out the instructions. Also I download the manual in PDF and stick it in my Dropbox where I'll always be able to find it. Just now I realized it would make sense, if the model number isn't clearly labeled, to write the model number on the note in the battery compartment too.

Another fail:
LPT: You can save a little money by eliminating body wash from your daily routine by substituting hair shampoo instead. The foamy bubbles on your head are more than enough to cleanse the rest of your body and leave you feeling clean.

The higher end product you use the better the results. I use Nexus Therappe shampoo and it has a fragrance of coconut. On a couple of occasions, I've received compliments on the way I smell. Skin feels great - very soft and smooth). Discovered this by accident when I was in a super hurry in the shower and thought, "What the hell, I'm in a hurry, just use the shampoo. Frugality begins at home. every little bit helps! Here's a link on the subject:

When you open a shrink-wrapped package of paper plates, disposable cups, etc, open the bottom. That way, as it sits there waiting for the next time you take one, dust settles on the underside of the next plate/cup rather than the business end.

When microwaving a frozen meal that comes in a tray (such as a lasagna), take its box apart at the seams and stand the box up over it like a tent. That allows it to be as uncovered as the instructions require while protecting the microwave from splatter.
