The Variety entertainment news source reports that director James Cameron has signed a deal with 20th Century Fox to make Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 as his next films. The films, which were confirmed by Fox Filmed Entertainment chairmen Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman, will open in December 2014 and December 2015, respectively.

Cameron has been working on a film adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita (GUNNM) manga since at least 2003. As recently as this past August, Cameron confirmed that the project is "still on my radar. It's a story I love. I wrote the script back before I started Avatar. And again, we have to figure out where it lies. I don't have infinite time."

In 2004, Cameron discussed the pre-production work that he was doing for Battle Angel after the documentary Aliens of the Deep. In 2005, The Hollywood Reporter magazine reported that Cameron may first film "Project 880," an early name for the project that became Avatar. In 2008, Cameron said he was not planning to do Battle Angel after Avatar. Last year, Cameron said that he was considering it for his next project and that the project was already scripted and had a year of design work. However, Cameron also said this year that Battle Angel would come after an Avatar sequel.

Kishiro's manga ran in Shueisha's Business Jump magazine from 1990 to 1995, followed by the 1995-1996 follow-up Ashen Victor and the single-volume GUNNM: Other Stories. The story continued in 2001 with the retelling Battle Angel Alita: Last Order, which is currently on hiatus as the result of an issue between Kishiro and Shueisha's Ultra Jump magazine. Kishiro plans to move the manga to another publisher, Kodansha. Viz Media has licensed all but Other Stories
for release in North America. In 1993, a two-episode original video anime (OVA) project based on the manga was released, and ADV Films licensed the anime.

The production company IDA Entertainment has announced at Tokyo's TIFFCOM industry event on Tuesday that it plans to release the Cat Shit One video anime on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in the United States this December. IDA plans to independently distribute this computer-animated title through the online retailer Amazon. The company emphasized its intent to handle international distribution for this video on its own, "which unfortunately means we are currently not interested in collaborating with other television, Internet distribution, DVD, or Blu-ray distribution related companies."

The previously announced stream of the English dub is set to begin in the United States on the website YouTube in November. Will Prescott and Tom Flynn are credited with the English dubbed voices of the characters Packy and Botasky, respectively. (IDA had already announced that it will include the English dub on the Japanese DVD and Blu-ray releases in early December.)

In addition, IDA has announced that it completed a stereoscopic 3D version of the project. The company showed a trailer of the stereoscopic 3D version at TIFFCOM, and it is considering partnerships with other companies for this version.

The anime adapts Motofumi Kobayashi's manga about American soldiers who happen to be cute animals in the Cat Shit One recon group. ADV Manga released three volumes of the original Cat Shit One manga under the title Apocalypse Meow in North America.

IDA is still working towards an eventual 12-episode television series version of Cat Shit One, and it is putting together the writer, production details, budget, and distribution plan. Unlike the current video version, IDA is considering partnerships for this planned television version.

yea thats true. but the fanbase has to be there for the anime. take d.gray-man for example. the mangaka of it used to be sick often so the manga would take months to be released. they only made up to like 100 eps before the anime was right up to the manga. i dont think theyll make another anime of it. i heard it didnt get tehh best ratings

fullmetal alchemist is an exeption though. they followed through the manga and turned it into an anime
