A lot of you fellers have asked me stawk questions in the chat thread or via visitor messages. I'm gonna start a thread for you queers to ask questions and i'll try my best to answer them. As is customary of any website, video, article, or book that has anything to do with financial markets I have to have a disclaimer:

Stock recommendations and comments presented by KOURKE are solely those of KORKAH. In other words, at the end of the day its your decision to make on whether to buy, sell, or hold

Here's a few sample questions i've received recently

Q:
"Kourke do you use etrade or scottrade?"

A:
neither

I use MB Trading. When you trade stocks the way I do you use a more professional broker. Nothing wrong with etrade or scottrade but they're more for people looking to invest their birthday money or little old lady's investing their retirement.

I used TD ameritrade when I first started but the commissions were too high ($10 to buy then $10 to sell)

Q:
What do you think about Ford stock. I've been interested in buying some.

A:
I would steer clear. What makes you interested in ford?

Q:
The new Ford Fusion plus the price of the stock isn't that high

A:
Low stock price should be considered a bad thing...If its low and keeps going lower they are probably doing something wrong at Ford

I has $2K.... well almost. But could....

so how do you start out?

The first step in starting to trade stocks is to educate yourself. The learning curve is tremendous when you first start out. When I started out I read every book, watched every video, read every article, and talked to every person I could. Basically I did everything I could to speed up the learning process.

When you first start out you wont know what the fuck you're doing and that's how its supposed to be. Trading financial markets is one of the most difficult things in the world to do so you're not going to get everything from day one.

What should you read/study?

Market Wizards - If you read this you probably wont understand half of it until you get a little more experienced.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/1592802974?tag=daytracom-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=1592802974&adid=1V5NRNDR30D96ZM15RQY&&ref-refURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.daytrader.com%2Fforums%2Fs howthread.php%3Ft%3D18564

While you're reading that book it helps if you look up the terms that you don't know on this website:
http://www.investopedia.com/

Google anything that has to do with the stock market. After a few months of just studying you should have started to come up with methods of trading.

It may take you a few tries to come up with a profitable method of trading. You should run your method by an experienced trader and see if he thinks it could work.

As far as using as little as $2K goes, when you're starting out you only want to be using a small amount of money so $2K is great for a beginner. When you feel like you're getting the hang of it you can start to use what's called a "margin" account. A margin account basically gives you more money to trade with than you actually have. If you have $2K in your account with a 2:1 margin account you'll have $4K to trade with.

Stories like that are a dime a dozen. 90% of people who attempt to do what I do for a living fail at it. If you hear that statistic and don't automatically say "well I feel sorry for the 90%" then trading isn't for you. Trading financial markets is not betting or gambling no matter what people say. Always think you will be the winner and that you'll come out on top. There are lots of people that succeed for decades but people choose to focus on the ones that last for a few years.

at which should i be worried about loosing my money? e.g. which point should i move around my stocks to help recover losses?

Gotta be honest here, i'm a little confused by your question. Could you rephrase it?

ive been under the preconception that to do stock trading you always have to be checking out your shit. true?

BillyJeanKing
10-03-2012, 04:27 AM
depends what kind of trader you would be

if you were a day trader (in an out of a stock within the same day) you would have to be at your computer for the duration of the trade.

if you were a position/swing trader (in and out of a stock in a few days) you could buy your stock at some point during the day and check it periodically throughout the day or not at all if you had trigger orders in place to buy or sell once a certain price was hit.

there's nothing wrong with being at your computer all day if you are a professional trader. people act as if its absurd to do that. If you're doing it right and making better money than at a traditional 9 to 5 then stop complaining. sitting down is the simplest thing you can do to make a dollar and some people don't even want to do that.

As soon as you realize trading stocks is a skill that takes time to learn. I hear people say things like that all the time. Its always "how much?". People are stupid

If you want to be successful at trading put all the thoughts of "how much?" in the back of your mind.

Cam, i no answered joo kwestchun yet. so soddy

korkah personally doesn't like mutual funds but its not my money so whatever.

If you feel mutual funds are best for you then go for it.

If I were you I would look more into trading/investing for myself.

My personal opinion of mutual funds is pretty low. They charge you commission fees and deliver very little. The guys that buy your stocks for you drive cars that you cant afford and live in a house that you can't afford.

When these guys are paid on commission they aren't exactly compelled to buy the best stocks for you because they get paid no matter how the stocks perform.

Read this article and tell me what you think:
