It'll do more burnouts than the original truck before the conversion...got combined OEM engine and electric motor torque.

:bogzno:

Only electric motor powers the drive wheels and it's 300 ft.lbs of torque. When battery runs low the 4.3 V6 turns generator to charge batteries.

different setup than standard Hybrid

either way it's :gayyy:

I stand corrected. I thought I read that it is like the Volt, claimed to be a true series hybrid but actually can operate like a traditional hybrid...but I looked again and you're right, it's a true series hybrid.

Well, that's got a whole bunch of advantages, starting with modularity - you could take out the 4.3 and put in a few hundred pounds worth of batteries, for example.

True 300 pounds of torque from 0 to 8000 rpms? Way better than 300 pounds of torque from 2400 rpm to 4500 and then flat on its face.

minus the fact you could buy regular truck and put gas in it for 10 years for less

A custom ground cam to make peak torque at say 2K rpm and a governor would give you essentially the same tech as a diesel locomotive. Shut it off on decel to charge the batteries via kinetic energy from inverting the polarity of the drive motors, and fire up the engine/generator at 25mph. I'd bet you'd see at LEAST 50% more mileage per tank, perhaps more. It's just expensive as shit.

It says the engine efficiency is improved dramatically by always operating at its optimal RPM. I imagine they might already be customizing the engine for it with cam/etc. It would be cost-effective to do it at that level.

It runs the engine at optimum RPM to achieve the best efficiency already. I like the fact that it can power the WHOLE house. If the prices come down it can embarrass the current platforms.

Optimum efficiency straight out of the crate, I assume. There are myriad things needed to make it run most efficiently as a generator. The biggest being cam profile, ECM tuning, throttle mapping, etc. Ideally you want a direct injected engine with no air throttle to avoid the pumping loss on the engine.
